Job Overview We are seeking a passionate and skilled Pastry Sous Chef to join our team. The ideal candidate will play a vital role in assisting the Executive Pastry Chef with daily kitchen operations, ensuring that all food preparation meets our high standards of quality and presentation. This position requires a strong understanding of food safety practices, pastry techniques, and the ability to work efficiently and independently in a fast-paced environment. Responsibilities Assist in the preparation and cooking of various dishes, ensuring consistency and quality. Oversee food handling practices to maintain compliance with health and safety regulations. Collaborate with the Pastry Chef to develop new menu items and improve existing recipes. Manage inventory, including ordering supplies and minimizing waste. Ensure cleanliness and organization of the kitchen area, including proper storage of ingredients. Participate in catering events as needed, showcasing skills in diverse settings. Experience Proven experience in food preparation within a professional kitchen setting. Strong knowledge of food safety standards and best practices in the food industry. Pastry degree or equivalent experience preferred; additional skills in baking are a plus. Familiarity with various cooking techniques and equipment, including knife skills. Experience in catering is advantageous but not required. Ability to work collaboratively within a team environment while maintaining a positive attitude under pressure.
