Position: Chief Financial Officer (CFO)Location: Wilmington, DE area (option to be located in a different dealership based on living location)Reports To: Long-term CEOCompany Overview: Well-established multi-dealership group in DE and MD | $250M+ annual revenues Job Summary: We are seeking an energetic and seasoned CFO who is a proactive leader with a strong financial acumen and a strategic mindset. This individual will be responsible for overseeing the financial health of the company, setting expectations for the accounting team, and ensuring timely and accurate financial reporting. The CFO will be expected to be on the forefront of all dealership accounting issues and will be responsible to manage the day-to-day accounting flow of the dealerships, work with auditors and tax advisors, assess risk, prepare financial reports, and serve as a strategic business partner to the owners. The CFO will play a critical role in both short-term and long-term financial strategy, expense control, and forecasting. Multi-state experience is a big plus. This is an executive level role and the person hired will be expected to uphold the highest ethical standards. Accounting degree highly preferred. Key Responsibilities: Provide financial oversight of the entire company, ensuring a proactive approach to financial management. Monitor, review, and manage the accounting team, setting clear expectations and maintaining accountability. Run financial reports and track sales, revenues, and expenses with a sense of urgency. Direct the preparation of all financial reports including income statements, balance sheets, reports to stakeholders, and tax returns Forecast requirements for capital, land, buildings, and changes in the workforce Financial planning and forecasting to support strategic decision-making. Manage cash flow and bank relationships Identify profit opportunities and make recommendations on financial strategy Ensure compliance with all financial regulations and work with a CPA firm through audits and other financial matters. Implement cost control measures and drive financial efficiencies. Oversee IT and Insurance departments, including external partners managing equipment insurance and liability. Manage payroll through ADP and ensure smooth processing. Communicate financial insights and strategies effectively to the CEO and executive leadership. Qualifications: Proven experience as a CFO, preferably with experience in the retail automotive or equipment industry. Strong leadership skills with the ability to manage and mentor the accounting team. Excellent communication skills, capable of setting clear expectations and driving financial accountability. Experience with financial reporting, forecasting, and expense control. Familiarity with IT and Insurance oversight is a plus. CPA or MBA preferred but not required. Hands-on approach with a proactive mindset and sense of urgency. Compensation: Compensation will be in the $220,000 - $275,000 range based on experience and performance.
