Associate Director of Individual Giving

Position: Associate Director of Individual Giving Department: Development Location: Goodwill NYNJ Headquarters Reports to: SVP of Development, Communications, and Marketing Supervises: Development Coordinator Position Summary: The Associate Director of Individual Giving is responsible for leading Goodwill NYNJ's individual giving program, focusing on the cultivation, solicitation, and stewardship of donors. This role manages the annual fund, oversees donor communications and segmentation, and ensures the successful tracking and processing of all gifts. The Associate Director supervises the Development Coordinator and manages a personal portfolio of mid-level and major donors, while supporting the SVP of Development, Communications, and Marketing in their portfolio management. Key Responsibilities: Annual Fund Management: Oversee the annual fund stewardship calendar, ensuring timely donor acknowledgment, appeals, and engagement activities. Draft donor correspondence, including personalized thank-you notes, appeals, and impact updates. Manage donor list segmentation to tailor communications and enhance engagement. Analyze campaign returns and implement strategies to increase annual fund participation. Develop and execute plans to elevate annual fund donors to the next level of giving. Donor Communications: Collaborate with the Marketing team to craft compelling and aligned donor communications. Ensure consistency in messaging across all individual giving materials. Monitor and evaluate the effectiveness of communications to inform future strategies. Moves Management and Donor Portfolios: Oversee moves management systems, tracking donor engagement and solicitation activities. Cultivate relationships with mid-level and major donors within a personal portfolio. Provide research and strategic support for the SVP of Development, Communications, and Marketing's major gift portfolio. Donor Research and Segmentation: Conduct and oversee donor research to identify prospective donors and opportunities for deeper engagement. Develop segmentation strategies to optimize outreach and personalized donor engagement. Data Management and Reporting: Oversee Development Coordinator to ensure accurate record-keeping in the donor database, tracking all gifts, communications, and interactions. Provide regular reporting on individual giving performance, identifying trends and opportunities for growth. Strategic Collaboration: Partner with program and leadership teams to highlight impactful stories and funding opportunities. Collaborate with the Development and Marketing teams to align individual giving strategies with organizational goals. Supervision and Team Leadership: Supervise and mentor the Development Coordinator, ensuring efficient gift tracking, processing, and donor database maintenance. Qualifications: Bachelor's degree and 5+ years of experience in nonprofit fundraising, with a focus on individual giving. Proven success in annual fund management, including stewardship, segmentation, and donor elevation strategies. Strong analytical skills with the ability to evaluate campaign performance and make data-driven recommendations. Exceptional communication skills, including writing, editing, and interpersonal abilities. Experience with donor database systems (e.g., Raiser's Edge, Salesforce) and proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite. Leadership experience with the ability to supervise and develop team members.
