Position Title Senior Producer/Director FLSA Exempt FT/PT Full Time Hours Per Week 37.5 Work Schedule M-F 8:30-5 Grade 13 Minimum Compensation $56,635 General Responsibilities The Senior Producer/Director is responsible for developing and implementing market-competitive video/digital media in both short and long formats in support of the college's mission, vision, and values. Employee assumes leadership and provides creativity in the planning, writing, and direction of projects. He/she develops and creates original programming and works with internal and external clients in developing content for airing on local and regional cable outlets, internal monitors and on the Internet. He/she demonstrates proficiency in broadcast television/video production techniques required for script-to-screen production in an all-digital environment. Employee must demonstrate advanced skills in scriptwriting for broadcast and video production. Employee produces and directs live on campus video events requiring proficiency in streaming and live to tape multicamera production. Employee must demonstrate advanced skills in scriptwriting. He/she performsadvanced television production work in support of Howard County's GTV Channel. Position is the primary contact person responsible for producing GTV content as well as live coverage of county meetings and providing technical administrative assistance. An employee in this classification is permitted the flexibility to exercise independent judgment in providing specialized technical functions for the GTV Channel. The work requires creativity and evaluative thinking. Contact with county officials is a regular and important function of this job. Work is performed under the general supervision of the Executive Producer, Dragon Digital Media. Work Performed WORK PERFORMED Produces, directs, writes and edits live and pre-recorded field and studio television production in a variety of genres. P Produces digital media content for the TV stations, radio station and the college's social media platforms. Acts as a liaison to internal and external clients providing leadership and creativity in developing innovative solutions to complex communications by analyzing situations accurately and taking effective action. Supervises and directs field producers and crews in the development and implementation of original productions for Dragon Digital Media. Manages logistics of production including script breakdown and scheduling, production planning, casting, and direction of talent, arranging with production coordinator for crew, equipment and travel and scheduling and performing editing sessions. Directs live telecasts of Howard County Council activities outlined in the yearly agreement. Assist with scheduling of programming of the GTV cable channel. Station representative on government and committee projects as assigned. Coordinates internship/mentorship programs for HCC students, county high school students and Howard County residents from four-year schools. May supervise and train staff as assigned. Performs other duties as assigned. Minimum Education Required Bachelor's degree Minimum Number of Years Experience Required 5 Other Knowledge Required Considerable knowledge of television production theory and application is a must. Must have hands-on experience with the production techniques in the creation of both standard and high- definition digital environment. Experience working with a variety of clientele and with scriptwriting, program development, talent direction and blocking, script breakdown, and scheduling for both studio and field production. Demonstrated ability to produce and direct content in multiple formats including documentaries, talk shows, public affairs programs, instructional videos and other projects as assigned. Master level knowledge of nonlinear editing techniques. Knowledge of the Adobe Creative Cloud. Knowledge of PC based software for word processing and graphics. Knowledge of the Tricaster television production system. Knowledge of remote control camera operations. Ability to work with a high degree of independence and solve problems quickly and efficiently in a fast paced environment. Ability to set up and operate video equipment for studio and remote productions. Ability to create interesting, informative high quality television programming. Ability to use initiative for problem solving and working independently. Strong verbal, written, and interpersonal skills are a must. OTHER REQUIREMENTS Ability to communicate effective, both verbally and in writing. Ability to maintain strict confidentiality. Regular attendance is a requirement of this job. Performs all duties while considering the impact of any actions on the college's sustainability initiatives in the areas of environmental stewardship, social responsibility, and economic prosperity. Working Conditions Valid Class C Maryland driver's license required. Production work may require off-site shooting or light travel. Production work may require overtime, evenings and/or weekends.
