We're looking for energetic and enthusiastic individuals to help us keep our parks looking their best. This position involves a variety of tasks related to the maintenance and upkeep of city parks and recreational facilities. Duties include mowing, trimming, pruning, planting, fertilizing, and general landscaping. Workers will also assist with the maintenance of playing fields, cleaning restrooms and park buildings, and operating and maintaining various types of equipment. * Up to 40 hours a week with flexible hours considered! No experience? No problem! This position will provide routine to semi-skilled seasonal work in the Parks Divisions. Positions are available May - August. * $75.00 reimbursement towards the purchase of work boots available First review of applicants will begin on February 24, 2025 and continue weekly until all positions are filled.Positions that qualify as Maintenance I - Parks: * Mowing: operate mowers to mow grass and trimmers to trim around trees, landscape beds, signs and buildings. * General maintenance: * Participate in maintenance of baseball, football, soccer and other playing fields and facilities. * Prune trees, shrubs and other vegetation around parks and recreational areas. * Clean restrooms and park buildings, empty trash cans and perform other related duties. * All positions will involve the operation, service and maintenance of a variety of tools and equipment such as mowers, seeders, sprayers, spreaders, tractors, hand tools and other equipment. * All positions will be expected to perform other various duties as assigned. Knowledge, Skills & Abilities: * Some knowledge of the tools, methods and materials used in general maintenance. * Ability to understand and follow oral and written instructions. * Ability to establish and maintain effective and positive working relationships with other employees and the public. * Ability to operate a variety of motorized vehicles and equipment in a safe manner. * Physical strength sufficient to complete the tasks assigned during varying weather conditions. * Must be at least 16 years of age. * Must possess valid driver's license and have a good driving record. * Ability to work up to 40 hours per week but can be flexible. * Parks Maintenance I (Mowing) is Monday through Friday from 6:30 a.m. - 2:30 p.m. * Parks Maintenance I (General Maintenance) is Monday through Friday from 6:30 a.m. - 2:30 p.m. and will be required to work occasional weekend shifts over the summer.
