The role will have a focus on Research, Manufacturing and Clinical information domain spaces. The role will have a strong focus on MDM, specifically product master. It will also be responsible for facilitating the identification and adoption of standard reference data within these domain spaces. The role will concentrate on developing the Enterprise Information Architecture (IA) frameworks, processes, and standards to fulfil both divisional and enterprise requirements. Additionally, it will facilitate the adoption and continuous improvement of these Information Architecture focus areas: Metadata, Master and Reference data management and strategy Data Architecture Data Storage and Operations Document and Content Core Data and Analytics Capabilities This role will establish Information Architecture standards, frameworks, and an enterprise data strategy, providing thought leadership to support data value capture and acceleration. It will collaborate closely with Data Management Services and Data & Analytics teams to offer architectural leadership and strategic direction. Regular engagement with divisional Information Architects and Senior Divisional IT leaders is essential, ensuring the developed strategy delivers business value and addressing any disconnects promptly. This successful candidate will work on an enterprise team, engaging with leaders across all divisions to support the CIO's vision of an agile, business outcomes-focused IT organization, and will partner with other Technical, Systems, and Solutions architects. A partial list of responsibilities includes the following: Use agile, value-centric, business outcomes-oriented, and total cost of ownership-based principles to guide EA decision making. Oversee the work of a federated team of Information Architects driving enterprise data initiatives. Create and introduce an EIM framework within the company and develop a strategy to enable and adapt it over time. Establish strong working relationships with business and technology leaders to influence and implement the EIM framework and strategy. Collaboratively develop an Information Architecture Community of Practice across the company with business and IT representation to focus on data alignment issues and data investment opportunities to bridge to data deficiencies for future and current needs. Proactively identify and solve the most complex problems that impact the management and direction of our EIM and Data Strategy. Stay current with EIM technology trends and introduce these best practices to the company. Drive the notion of reusable Data Assets and promote data as an asset. Develops and recommends new concepts, technologies, services, processes, or products to address future client and/or customer requirements within information, data, and analytics. Act as a Subject Matter Expert to the organization for all data related capabilities. Facilitate with business and IT Partners the development of an enterprise Data Asset Library. Develops strategies and objectives for and/or leads highly visible or risky projects that have significant company impact. Define metrics for the measuring of technology maturity, health, and business value and plays an active role in delivering these measures. Drive investment decisions with a mindset to optimize total cost of ownership delivered business value. Drive the notion of reusable architecture assets & standards such as current-state business/technology capability maps as well as future state planning roadmaps across all of IT. Partner with architects and capability owners in the other business units to re-use the best available technologies and processes. Help define and own the management of the EA operating model across the enterprise. Support the creation of a common and well-managed set of EA practices, which includes architecture models, architecture governance processes, architecture methods and templates, architecture communities and training, and much more. Create EA deliverables and artifacts relevant for accountable architecture domain(s). Effectively work with both waterfall and agile project teams to evolve the technical landscape toward the desired end state. Apply risk-based decision making to complex problems and consult with relevant subject matter advisors as needed to inform the decision. Prepare and deliver executive level briefings and communicate complex topics effectively to a diverse executive audience. Position Qualifications Bachelor's degree in computer science, systems analysis or a related study, or equivalent experience. Required Experience and Skills: 15+ years prior experience spanning IT disciplines including technical architecture, Databases, Master Data Management, and Information Architecture. 7+ years in a management role Ability to travel up to 15%. Strong Information Management Background Skills in MDM, Data Quality, Information Governance, Data Modelling, Information Architecture and Metadata management. Data Domain Experience in at least two of the Core Information Management Domains (Product, Research, Manufacturing). Experience in Enterprise Product Master is preferred. Has expertise in leading-edge practices, techniques, and/or technologies within Data, analytics & information management. Experience with the core capabilities and technologies necessary to build a strong information architecture practice. Working knowledge of current Data and Information architecture frameworks. Effectively leverages diversity to provide the benefit of different perspectives. Demonstrated ability to partner with business stakeholders and navigate across conflicting priorities to balance critical tactical and strategic needs. Outstanding written and verbal communication skills - able to effectively communicate complex concepts in simple ways. Demonstrated ability to effectively collaborate and communicate with a variety of audiences and stakeholders including executive management, business leaders, IT peers, and colleagues worldwide. Strategic thinker, with demonstrated ability to work in a broad and top-down manner with a fair amount of ambiguity at the center. Results-orientation with the proven ability and reputation for developing plans and implementing them successfully. Demonstrated leadership in achieving shared objectives in a matrix organization, managing cross-divisional initiatives, and cross-functional teams in an extremely dynamic environment. Self-directed, self-motivated, focused leader who with little direction can fill in the gaps as to what is needed, and drive expected results. Demonstrated ability to envision the future and rally the organization / people towards a common goal. Preferred Experience and Skills: Prior experience in the Pharmaceutical Industry, including understanding of key business processes in Research, Development, Operations, Manufacturing and Marketing areas. Prior experience in Enterprise, Technical or Solution Architecture. Knowledge/certification in TOGAF or other EA methodology frameworks. Exposure to multiple, diverse technologies and processing environments. Knowledge of business process re-engineering principles and processes. Strong understanding of Data Governance Frameworks.
