Job purpose The Chief Credit Officer is responsible for the overall credit risk management of the company and oversees all credit related functions including the Underwriting and Closing functions and is responsible for the development, maintenance, and execution of all credit policies, underwriting processes, credit risk analysis, and transaction management related to successful structuring, originating and closing of Agency and select Non-Agency Loans. Duties and responsibilities Set the vision for NewPoint's credit philosophy, processes, and functions and be the "face" to all internal and external stakeholders regarding our credit posture; Manage open and collaborative relationships with all key contacts at Fannie Mae and Freddie Mac; Manage and/or oversee the due diligence/underwriting/loan approval process, establishing credit policies and practices as it relates to various programs/financing; Directly manage underwriters supporting the Agency origination teams and enforce program requirements and provide oversight and support for non-Agency underwriting teams; Actively participate along with executive team on setting the business strategy; Collaborate with Product Manager(s) to develop new Products and Credit Solutions including drafting and maintaining related Credit Policies, Guidelines and specialized processes required to support the Business; Develop and maintain overall credit policy and provide oversight to all business and product lines; Developing, implementing, and monitoring quality control standards; Manage audit of loan origination process and personnel periodically to ensure compliance with credit policies; Provide input and support to asset management as it relates to watchlist monitoring and loan workout; and Other reasonable tasks and services in connection with your position. Qualifications Bachelor's degree in business, finance. economics or related field. Masters preferred; 10 - 15 years credit/commercial real estate/underwriting experience - with at least 5-years of Agency underwriting experience; Ability to understand capital markets and complex financing and product structures; General knowledge of underwriting and closing processes and requirements; Strong analytical abilities to grasp complex transactional issues and assess risk; Must possess excellent written and verbal communication skills along with organizational, communication and multi-tasking skills; Strong interpersonal skills required along with the ability to collaborate and build relationships; and Strong leadership capability and ability to manage in a dynamic, entrepreneurial environment. #J-18808-Ljbffr
