Corporate Counsel, PlayStation Productions Los Angeles, CA or San Mateo, CA - will require coming into our office 2 times per week Role overview: PlayStation Productions is our in-house production team specializing in developing high-quality adaptations of our video games into compelling film and television projects. We are looking for an experienced entertainment attorney with expertise in film and television transactions, to draft and negotiate complex agreements relating to the development and production of motion pictures, television programs, and other entertainment projects based on our video game properties. What you'll be doing: Draft, negotiate, and advise on a variety of film and scripted television agreements, including writer, option/purchase, licensing, attachment (director, producer), and vendor services Provide strategic legal advice on film and television development and IP licensing Review chain-of-title documents and advise on rights availability IP issues Communicate legal risks and provide pragmatic solutions Collaborate with teams from different regions, cross-functional groups, and legal subject matter experts to address complex legal issues Stay up to date on industry trends, legal developments, and emerging issues in entertainment law Required education/experience: J.D. degree from an ABA accredited law school (or foreign equivalent) with a minimum of 5 years post qualified experience Membership in good standing in a US state bar; California State Bar membership is preferred; at a minimum, the candidate must be qualified for and quickly obtain Registered In-House Counsel status in California At least 5 years of experience in film and television agreements The ideal candidate: Strong understanding of entertainment industry practices and business models, including participations, royalties, and other payment structures Strong understanding of intellectual property law, including complex ownership and licensing arrangements Working knowledge of WGA requirements Experience working with producers and production finance Experience managing outside counsel Ability to manage multiple projects and prioritize effectively in a fast-paced environment, with excellent organizational skills Excited to contribute to innovative projects that engage a diverse, global audience Ability to thrive in a team-oriented environment, with excellent communication and interpersonal skills Ability to balance legal risk with commercial requirements and offer practical and innovative solutions Experience in live events, concerts, and location-based entertainment a plus #J-18808-Ljbffr
