Job DescriptionROLE HIGHLIGHTSAgSource is looking for a hands-on Supervisor that understands production and receiving processes within a plant/manufacturing setting. This role will provide the opportunity to lead a small team of full-time employees as well as seasonal staff during our busy months (October-January). We are seeking a leader with mechanical aptitude and a willingness to get their hands dirty...we conduct soil sample testing, so this is a given! We need someone to identify areas of opportunity in our SOP's and make recommendations that not only keep us in compliance with USDA regulations but also help our employees enjoy their jobs!This role will require onsite presence at our Lincoln, NE location. If you are not located in/around Lincoln, NE, you must be open to relocation.JOB SUMMARYThe role of the Production Supervisor is to plan, direct and coordinate activities relating to laboratory production such as sample entry, daily production schedule and provide services relating to general building support. This position will also manage, monitor and maintain sample quarantine processes and meet USDA audit criteria.SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIESProvide positive communication with laboratory staff on daily production load.Train Laboratory Associates on current quarantine procedures.Provide direction, coaching and leadership to designated staff to ensure timely, and accurate sample turnaround to our customers.Foster a team-based and collaborative environment.Interview, hire and schedule personnel to adequately staff the designated positions.Assist the Site Manager with evaluating, planning and scheduling seasonal temporary staffing needs. Maintain up-to-date job descriptions and conduct employee coaching sessions.Conduct performance evaluations in a timely manner in accordance with the performance review process.RESPONSIBILITIESCoordinate the process of sample entry.Manage and support the process of sample preparation.Sort and package samples to be outsourced to outside laboratories.Provide support and service to clients sending in samples that require client service assistance, including:Paperwork that is unclear as to what testing the client is requesting.Provide processing and tracking of samples to outsource to and outside laboratory.Track, manage and provide Support of Quarantine processes.Coordinate decontamination of Quarantine samples according to current SOP.Maintain logbook.Coordinate Processes of Building support.Maintain service schedules of all equipment pertaining to building support and sample preparation.Troubleshoot, diagnose, and repair common mechanical issues with instrumentation, lab and facility equipmentAdjust daily samples with university samples in conjunction with season production capabilities.Maintain 3-day turnaround time on daily samples.Maintain less than a 90-day turn around on university samples.Monitor and communicate production skip list for samples greater than three days.Coordinate and maintain clean and effective work areas. Practice and promote safety in the workplace through work behavior, general housekeeping, and following objectives from posted laboratory safety plan.Instruct workers to follow safe work practices and enforce health and safety regulations. Perform other miscellaneous duties as needed and required.REQUIREMENTSProven ability to lead people.Mechanically inclined with a strong understanding of maintaining powered equipmentAn ability to fix common mechanical failuresAbility to prioritize and multi-task in a fast-paced environment.Excellent written and verbal communication skills.Strong organizational and time management skills.Detail oriented nature.Proficient with computer skills and Microsoft products including but not limited to Excel and Word.Scheduling flexibility and ability to work overtime as needed based on workflow and deadlines.EDUCATION & EXPERIENCEHigh School diploma or GED.2- or 4-year college degree focused on Business or Engineering preferred.Previous supervisory experience required.
