Senior Engineer

Company HQ: 4 World Trade Center, 150 Greenwich Street, New York, NY 10007 Location: Telecommuting role to be performed anywhere in the U.S. Job Title: Senior Engineer Duties: Serve as a technical leader by implementing and driving implementation of backend systems, data pipelines, and infrastructure and tools that make up Spotify's data platform. Architect and drive improvements on scalability, reliability, efficiency, and cost-effectiveness of systems within Spotify's data platform. Collaborate with other engineers, product managers, and designers to identify and solve challenging problems that feed into new features of Spotify's data platform. Research, benchmark, assess, and provide recommendations on adoption or deprecation of technologies, standards, and tooling for Spotify's data platform. Implement high-quality internal release engineering practices to facilitate rapid development, safe changes, and engineer productivity. Maintain internal system architecture documentation and runbooks. Take an active part in the operational responsibilities for software infrastructure within the scope of their immediate team. Travel required 10% of the time to domestic and international locations. Job Requirements: Master's degree (U.S. or foreign equivalent) in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, or a related field and three (3) years of experience in job offered or in a related role OR Bachelor's degree (U.S. or foreign equivalent) in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, or a related field and five (5) years of experience in job offered or in a related role. Must have three (3) years of experience (or 5 with Bachelor's) with: Java programming with a focus on high-performance, multi-threaded, and networked applications, and Java frameworks and libraries for enterprise solutions; Scala for data pipelines, including experience with functional programming paradigms; Go programming for writing highly efficient and concurrent backend services and Kubernetes operators; Design and implementation of resilient and scalable microservices architectures, with a focus on containerized environments and service orchestration; Architectural design and operational management of distributed systems, with an emphasis on efficient data structures; Google Cloud Platform (GCP) services for building, deploying, and scaling applications; SQL and NoSQL Databases to model complex data structures and optimize for performance; Integrating message brokers and event streaming platforms, concretely Pubsub and Kafka; Infrastructure as Code (IaC) tools, including Terraform and GCP Config Sync; Implementing monitoring solutions, concretely with Prometheus and Grafana.
