This position, located in Palo Alto, offers the opportunity to engage in complex litigation and collaborate with experienced professionals in a dynamic, team-oriented environment. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in patent law and the confidence to participate in all stages of litigation, including trials and depositions. Duties: Patent Litigation Representation: Handle patent disputes in U.S. District Courts and before the Patent Trial and Appeal Board (PTAB), with an emphasis on IT and engineering matters. Strategic Case Development: Work closely with senior attorneys to strategize on case development, preparing for hearings and trial. Legal Research & Writing: Conduct in-depth legal research and draft high-quality legal documents, including pleadings, motions, and claim construction briefs. Discovery & Depositions: Lead discovery efforts, including depositions, expert discovery, and managing issues around infringement, validity, and damages. Pre-Trial & Trial Activities: Participate in trial preparation, assist with expert testimony, and support the trial team during hearings and trials. Client Interaction: Communicate directly with clients, providing guidance and updates on litigation progress. Requirements: 2-5 years of experience in patent litigation, with significant involvement in U.S. District Court cases and PTAB proceedings. Experience with patent infringement, validity, and damages issues, including taking and defending depositions. Proven ability to conduct legal research, draft motions, and support strategic case planning. Confidence in engaging with clients and opposing counsel, with strong oral and written communication skills. Strong interest in and understanding of technology, engineering, and/or patent law. Education: Juris Doctor (J.D.) from an accredited law school. An undergraduate or master's degree in electrical engineering, mechanical engineering, computer science, or physics is preferred. Certifications: Active membership in the State Bar of the jurisdiction where the position is located, or eligibility for admission. Skills: Strong legal research, writing, and analytical abilities. Comfort with patent litigation procedures, including pre-trial, discovery, and trial phases. Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with an ability to handle direct client interactions.
