Reports to: Chief Administrative Officer Supervises: Accounting Department.Direct Report: ControllerTeam Members: Payroll Manager, Payroll Specialist, Staff Accountant and Accounts Payable Specialists ESSENTIAL DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES Oversees all aspects of the general ledger accounting Supervises the accounting department, works with each team member to develop goals, conducts regular check-in meetings, and provides regular feedback and support Manages cash balances, investments, and banking relationships Oversees the annual audit and tax return preparation Manages the month-end close-out process Prepares the monthly DMH revenue analysis and enters the monthly journal entry Works with Controller to produce cash flow analyses and forecasts With the payroll team, responsible for the bi-weekly disbursement of payroll including garnishments, benefits, and taxes consistent with federal and state wage and hour laws Assists with the creation and implementation of the annual budget Performs regular projections and assists with budget modifications as needed Participates in regular meetings with program leadership, provides financial reports, and serves as liaison between programs and finance Analyzes key vendor relationships to ensure maximum cost savings Works in conjunction with the Pery Consulting Group (PCG) Director of Fiscal Grant Management and PCG Consulting CFO to ensure that grants are maximized and program staff are kept apprised of grant performance Participates in Board, Finance Committee and Audit Committee meetings QUALIFICATIONS Bachelor's degree in accounting, finance, or a related field preferred 10 or more years' progressive experience in finance required. Non-profit finance experience preferred Extensive knowledge of cost center accounting is a must. Government grant experience is preferred 5 years or more experience managing staff and ability and commitment to coach, nurture and develop staff Detail oriented with excellent leadership, time management, organizational, written, verbal, interpersonal and computer skills Able to work in high-pressure situations and meet deadlines Valid CA Driver's license, reliable car, auto insurance, and an acceptable driving record WORK ENVIRONMENT Field (may need to travel) and indoor office environment On occasion drive to different local sites Regularly required to sit, stand, bend and occasionally lift or carry up to 35 pounds Will necessitate working in busy and loud environments Will be exposed to elements like cold, heat, dust, noise and odor May need to bend, stoop, twist, and sit throughout the day EXPECTED BEHAVIORS OF ALL STAFF Act as a role model Demonstrate a sense of responsibility Continuously learn and improve Acknowledge your own areas of improvement Hear and provide honest, specific and direct feedback Create an environment where everyone is welcomed, valued and respected Equal Opportunity Employer The People Concern is an equal opportunity employer dedicated to non-discrimination in employment.
