As a Junior Technical Operations Software Engineer at Gelber, you will work closely with other talented engineers on Tech-Ops and the rest of the technology team, trading, and Trade Support. This role is for someone who flourishes in a fast-paced environment, has a strong work ethic, clear communication, and a strong interest in growing their technical skillset. What you'll do: Actively manage and implement strategic improvements to all processes enabling Gelber tech and trading team operations. Design and implement continuous updates to Gelber's operational processes. Automate and streamline Gelber's applications, processes, and systems. Manage deployments for the firm into Gelber's production environment. Troubleshoot complex problems. Work collaboratively with members of trading, development, enterprise technology, and IT operations. Manage access and maintenance to a variety of third-party applications. Own services from conception to deployment. What you'll need: Bachelor's Degree in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, Computer Information Systems, or a related field. 0-3 years of work experience and a strong ability to learn. Experience working with Python. Understanding of C#, Java, or SQL is preferred but not required. General understanding of Windows and Linux administration. Strong critical thinking skills and sense of urgency when it comes to support. Great communication skills, inquisitive nature, and formidable attention to detail. Must be able to be on call for after-hours support for 2 weeks at a time. Eagerness to solve problems and a strong desire to automate work. Mental flexibility - ability to adapt based on new data and feedback. The approximate annual base compensation range for this position in Chicago, IL is $80,000 to $120,000. The actual offer will be determined by factors such as experience, knowledge, skills, and abilities.
