Position Summary: The Office of District Planning (ODP) is responsible for the development of district- and borough-based plans that optimize the use of school buildings to advance equity and accelerate learning and instruction. These plans include placement of high-quality schools and programs (e.g., Gifted and Talented, Career and Technical Education, and District 75) in available space, grade reconfigurations, re-sittings, and zoning changes. The Operations Coordinator will provide operational support to optimize district planning processes for the Office of District Planning. The position will develop and maintain organizational systems to manage the development of documents across Borough Planning Teams and planning for community engagement events to ensure compliance with the public review and comment requirements of New York State Education Law. The incumbent will also create an efficient office environment by supporting with general administrative duties. Performs related work. Reports to: Director of Operations Direct Reports: N/A Key Relationships: Works closely with District Planning Leadership and Borough Planning Teams and support staff. Also works with partners across Division of First Deputy Chancellor such as office of Legal Services; the Division of Family, Community and Student Empowerment (FACSE), Language Access (OLA), and Panel for Educational Policy (PEP); and other internal and external stakeholders including accessibility services vendors. Responsibilities: Develop and implement a project management tracking system for documents and activities pertaining to school utilization proposals to ensure compliance with New York State Education Law and Chancellor's Regulation A-190. Develop and maintain relationships with key internal and external stakeholders, such as offices of FACSE, PEP, OLA, and OLS. Manage operational aspects of community engagements including all joint public hearings by coordinating services with vendors for teleconferencing, interpretations, translations, and transcriptions. Oversee and administer daily office administrative tasks to ensure smooth and efficient operations, including but not limited to maintaining inventory of office technology devices and supplies as well as managing technology service support tickets. Oversee the maintenance of the ODP webpage content to ensure accuracy and consistency. Review and edit documents, presentation slides, and other materials for accuracy and clarity. Serve as an ODP representative during joint public hearings and other community engagements. Qualification Requirements: Minimum: A baccalaureate degree from an accredited college and two (2) years of experience in community work or community centered activities in an area related to the duties described above; or High school graduation or equivalent and six (6) years of experience in community work or community centered activities in an area related to the duties as described above; or Education and/or experience which is equivalent to "1" or "2" above. However, all candidates must have at least one (1) year of experience as described in "1" above. Preferred: Knowledge of New York City Public Schools (NYCPS) system, the public sector and/or interest in public education. Superior organization skills, including the ability to manage numerous tasks simultaneously, work under pressure, meet tight deadlines, and proactively resolve issues. Experience in project management, community organizing, or event planning. Ability to build strong working relationships with internal and external constituents. Sound judgment and strong problem-solving skills. Ability to conceptualize, implement, and assess new processes and systems. Ability to present information and data in a clear, concise, and logical manner, both spoken and written. Proficiency in Microsoft Word, Excel and PowerPoint. Flexibility to work some evenings and occasional travel to community engagements across the city. $69,844 - $76,828 (Incumbent - 2 years of full-time continuous City service) Please include a resume and cover letter with your application.
