Our team are creative and highly motivated individuals working to make a positive impact. Come join us! We are seeking a Donor Database Director to join our team in the Development department. They will be responsible for leading Smile Train's global fundraising database, Salesforce Nonprofit Success Pack (NPSP). This role oversees data management for all of Smile Train's fundraising operations including data inflow and outflow processes, donation processing with caging vendors, end user training and support, and will be the subject matter expert on all fundraising data operations. This individual will provide thought leadership and direction on best practices as it relates to integrations to third-party applications, creating or improving data processes for new fundraising initiatives and will oversee consultants working on enhancements and improvements. Success in this role will be based on your ability to solve complex business problems both independently and in collaboration with multi-functional teams, and to see projects through from inception to delivery, and successful adoption thereafter. The Donor Database Director will report to our Senior Director of Marketing Technology and will manage the team of two direct reports. This is a full-time staff position based at our headquarters in New York City. This role would require you to be in the NYC office on a hybrid work schedule of two (2) days per week. Responsibilities Responsible for maintaining highly accurate and current donor data that effectively tracks key information, cultivation activities and histories, and solicitation and reporting. Provide leadership and strategic thinking about data processes, vision, and improvements with databases (Salesforce NPSP, Nonprofit Cloud experience is a plus). Serve as the subject matter expert for the implementation/configuration of new and existing third-party integrations with Salesforce including but not limited to: Donor Platforms (donation forms), Peer-to-Peer platforms, Email Marketing tools, marketing automation tools, data enrichment tools, and various payment processors, as well as development and testing protocols. Support multiple department stakeholders in their data-driven initiatives. Develop, maintain and enhance moves management processes and engagement plans. Understanding how to utilize data visualization, BI/ML tools to create/update revenue and expense dashboards (ex. QlikView, Tableau, Domo), but not required. Working knowledge to streamline large data imports and exports through various tools (Data Loader, Demand Tools, Apsona, middleware tools). Execute analysis of current state processes, documentation (Training Guides, etc.) to ensure the latest is always available and in use. Create business rules, documentation (ex. Sys Admin Standard operating procedures manual) of policies and best practices to ensure clear and consistent data entry practices, data hygiene updates, and data governance for both internal Sys Admins and external vendors. Experience in training personnel in database usage and data entry, integrations, flows/automations, batching and reporting procedures, and business rules with ability to clearly articulate said procedures verbally and in writing. Communication of project management updates, business user support and training, technology collaboration. Experience diagnosing and resolving database issues, including performance problems, connectivity issues, and data inconsistencies. Maintain and continuously monitor database performance, identify bottlenecks, and work with development vendor to implement solutions to optimize speed and efficiency. Backup and recovery strategy planning and implementation; environment transition planning (development, test, stage, production). Monitor for and address security measures, including access controls, encryption and auditing. Post-implementation admin training, adoption monitoring, backlog management, prioritization and delivery of enhancements. Manage and mentor the Database team who oversee various responsibilities such as imports and exports, financial reconciliation, day to day user requests, reporting, integrations, etc. Qualifications Bachelor's degree in computer science or related field. Must have Salesforce certification, preferably Salesforce NPSP. 3-5 years' experience as a Salesforce Administrator and how data and databases are utilized. 3-5 years' experience leading and mentoring a team. Previous experience managing data operations. Within a nonprofit is a plus. Proficient with Salesforce import and export tools and apps. Very strong knowledge of Excel, and excellent problem-solving skills. Project management experience and using corresponding tools (Jira, Asana, etc.). Superior attention to detail and organizational skills. Experience with implementing and maintaining moves management and engagement plans. Patience and ability to teach and train users of all technical levels. Skilled at explaining technical concepts to all audiences. Great listener and communicator. Working knowledge of privacy policies (ex. GDPR, CCPA, and other data privacy laws), retention. Compensation and Benefits Salary Range: $95,000-$115,000Benefits: Smile Train offers a high-level competitive benefits package with excellent health, 401k, and time off benefits.
