Job Title: Lead, Software Engineering Job Code: 1775 Job Location: Northampton, MA Schedule: 9/80 L3Harris is seeking a Software Engineering Lead to join our Northampton, MA team. This position is responsible for supporting a team of software engineers of varying grade levels and supporting a variety of US Navy and international programs in the area of Periscope and Optronic Software Systems. Responsibilities Cross-functional role on team that designs and implements embedded applications/solutions using microprocessor, DSP, RTOS, Linux, and networking technologies. Monitor the day-to-day activities of the assigned Software Engineering Group. Meet functional requirements of staffing, training, talent development, engagement, retention, and overall management of the assigned Software Engineering Group. Provide technical direction and oversight to individuals in the Group, ensuring high standards of technical competence and achievement. Review labor estimates provided by PM and PE functional groups and schedule resources as required to operate and adhere to budget and schedule commitments. Help advance departmental standards, best practices, and processes for the Engineering organization, enforcing their application. Champion continuous improvement activities within the group to improve quality and cost reduction objectives. Define capital, tools, equipment, and other resources required by the Software Engineering Group. Prepare and deliver technical presentations to management and customers. Execute the duties of a senior Software Engineer to support direct project work. Implement assigned projects and project tasks to provide software engineering solutions including software design, documentation, verification, and validation. Perform technical review, design analysis, development, and selection of hardware and mission-critical software. Lead reviews and prepare documentation for complex software designs in accordance with established software development processes and procedures. May run tests, evaluate results, debug defects, or lead others in these tasks. Lead or participate in planning verification and validation activities. Assist in preparation of technical proposals for funding of research activities. Be involved with innovation in the conceptual stages of product development. Strengthen customer relations through developed ability to communicate technical specifics. Perform contract reviews to identify technical and non-technical requirements and risks. Guide the successful completion of major programs and may function in a project leadership role. Represent organization as prime technical contact on contracts and projects. Design, develop, optimize, debug, and maintain Tactical Software applications using accepted engineering practices and tools. Perform language and platform conversions, rewrites, or upgrades of existing software applications as required. Integrate with sensors, motion controllers, and other programs using TCP sockets and/or associated vendor-supplied APIs. Design, develop, and maintain algorithms related to data and signal analysis, curve fitting, optimization, parallel processing, etc. Design, develop, and maintain databases and associated tools for storage/retrieval of measurement and process control data. Maintain software engineering with revision control and supporting documentation. Support embedded system development activities when required. Support investigations and implementations of novel metrology methods, devices, and/or applications. Qualifications Bachelor's Degree and minimum 9 years prior related experience; Graduate Degree with a minimum of 7 years of prior related experience; In lieu of a degree, minimum of 13 years of prior related experience. Able to obtain and maintain a US DoD clearance, which requires US Citizenship. Strong CAM/Lead Experience. Strong EVMS Skills. Strong programming experience in C or C++. Strong debugging skills. Demonstrated experience with requirements management/traceability. Experience with embedded system concepts such as preemptive, multitasking real-time operating systems. Demonstrated experience in network programming and TCP/IP. Experience in writing development plans and technical proposals. Experience in all phases of the software development life-cycle. Experience in building and leading teams.
