Gen Re currently offers an excellent opportunity for a Senior Data Engineer to an appropriately qualified individual within the Global IT Services. This role may be performed remotely within the United States. Role Description The Senior Data Engineer / Python Programmer is a member of the Enterprise Data and AI Services (EDAS) team within Global IT Services. In this capacity, the candidate will work with a team of empathetic, autonomy-supported, well-connected, competent, and passionate data analysts, data engineers, data architects, and data scientists (i.e., a data team) responsible for empowering the organization with modern data and AI tools, technologies, and workflows. The ideal candidate will be highly empathetic, collaborative, organized, analytical, and be expected to partner effectively with other business and service units. Responsibilities: Collaborate with a small Agile DevOps development team Contribute to the development of data lake ETL/ELT solutions using Python and Azure Cloud (PaaS) Services Contribute to the technical refinement of user stories Contribute to the data modeling, code development, and documentation Support the CICD code management, automated integration testing, and release processes Support the documentation and handover of development to the production support teams As a foundational member of this team, there will be many opportunities for a self-starting individual to develop their technical skills and grow their role. Role Qualifications and Experience Previous experience (5+ years) working as a Python developer Experience working with data, ideally in a data engineering context Experience working with Azure cloud services A technical or computer science degree and/or relevant work experience Ability to collaborate within an Agile development team Ability to deliver quality code to agreed timelines Strong analytical and problem-solving skills Attention to detail and structure Excellent oral and written communication skills Ability to communicate to those with less technical backgrounds to ensure clear and effective communication Experience in working with third-party service delivery partners a plus Salary Range 106,000.00 - 178,000.00 USD The annual base salary range posted represents a broad range of salaries around the U.S. and is subject to many factors including but not limited to credentials, education, experience, geographic location, job responsibilities, performance, skills and/or training.
