As a Business Intelligence / Data Engineer you will enable data-driven decision making within the Amazon Web Services Data Center Infrastructure Operations organization. The Infrastructure Operations Team is responsible for planning, implementing, monitoring and continuously improving the global Amazon Data Center infrastructure. The team supports all aspects of the Data Center based organizations, including but not limited to: Safety, Security, maintenance, daily operations, logistics, engineering and equipment management. You will be developing, implementing and maintaining the information data warehouse, and utilizing insight platforms, to enable decision support systems for the overall organization. You should have excellent business and communication skills, and be able to work with business owners to understand their data and reporting requirements. Above all, you should be passionate about working with huge data sets and be someone who is able to bring data sets together to answer business questions and drive growth. You will build ETLs to ingest the data into the data warehouse and data lake, as well as end-user facing reporting applications. You will primarily support teams within the Infrastructure environment, but will also have opportunities to support teams in the overall Amazon Web Services community. You will work with business customers and development teams to define analytics requirements and then deliver flexible, scalable, end-to-end solutions. You will have an opportunity to work with big data and emerging technologies while driving business intelligence solutions end-to-end: business requirements, data modeling, ETL, metadata, reporting, and dashboarding. You should have expertise in the design, creation, management, and business use of large datasets. Key job responsibilities Passion for storytelling through the visualization of data. We are looking for someone who obsesses about the user experience and who excels in driving business outcomes through the dashboards they develop. Experience with Tableau or similar visualization/dashboarding platforms like PowerBI, QlikView, Google Charts, Amazon QuickSight, etc. Moderate to Advanced SQL skills. Skill with aggregate functions, joins between three or more data sources, window functions, and query optimization. Experience in building presentation layers for reporting dashboards in SQL. Ability to design and build tables for staging and presentation, outside of the visualization software, in AWS Redshift or other similar Data Warehouse (DW) platform. Knowledge and understanding of data modeling and data design, e.g. fact and dimension tables, snowflake and star schema, etc. Experience in building automation to extract data from a Data Lake/Data Warehouse into visualizations. Optimizing large volumes of data through organization of building views and tables with business metrics and KPIs, and creating scheduled, recurring jobs to load data into the visualization environment. Excellent communication skills, verbal and written. Experience leading projects, interacting with customers and stakeholders to deliver successful dashboard products. BASIC QUALIFICATIONS 4+ years of analyzing and interpreting data with Redshift, Oracle, NoSQL etc. experience Knowledge of SQL and data warehousing concepts Experience developing and presenting recommendations of new metrics allowing better understanding of the performance of the business Experience with data visualization using Tableau, Quicksight, or similar tools Experience with Airflow DAGs for ETL PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS Experience in data mining, ETL, etc. and using databases in a business environment with large-scale, complex datasets Experience using SQL to pull data from a database or data warehouse and scripting experience (Python) to process data for modeling Experience with forecasting and statistical analysis Amazon is committed to a diverse and inclusive workplace. Our compensation reflects the cost of labor across several US geographic markets. The base pay for this position ranges from $89,600/year in our lowest geographic market up to $185,000/year in our highest geographic market. Pay is based on a number of factors including market location and may vary depending on job-related knowledge, skills, and experience. Amazon is a total compensation company.
