We are seeking a skilled and dependable General Maintenance Technician to join our team in the education sector. The ideal candidate will play a critical role in maintaining the functionality, safety, and appearance of our educational facilities. This position involves performing routine maintenance, repairs, and improvements to ensure a conducive learning environment for students and staff. For information about ABM's benefits, visit ABM 2025 Employee Benefits | Staff & Management Key Responsibilities: * Maintenance and Repairs: * Perform routine maintenance and minor repairs on plumbing, electrical, HVAC, and mechanical systems. * Repair doors, windows, locks, furniture, and other fixtures as needed. * Preventive Maintenance: * Conduct regular inspections of facilities and systems to identify and resolve potential issues before they become problems. * Ensure all equipment and systems comply with safety and operational standards. * Facility Upkeep: * Address maintenance requests promptly, ensuring minimal disruption to the learning environment. * Perform carpentry, painting, and other general repair tasks to maintain the aesthetic appeal of the facility. * Safety Compliance: * Monitor and address safety hazards, ensuring compliance with local and state regulations. * Assist in emergency repairs and other critical facility-related tasks as required. * Collaboration: * Work closely with administration, custodial staff, and external contractors to coordinate maintenance activities and minimize disruption. * Provide support during special events or seasonal changes, such as setting up equipment or preparing for weather-related challenges. * Recordkeeping: * Maintain accurate records of maintenance tasks, inspections, and repairs for reference and compliance purposes. Qualifications: * Education: High school diploma or equivalent required. Vocational or technical training in maintenance or a related field is preferred. * Experience: Minimum of 2 years of experience in general maintenance or a related field, preferably in educational or institutional settings. * Skills: * Basic knowledge of plumbing, electrical, HVAC, and carpentry. * Strong problem-solving and troubleshooting skills. * Ability to work independently and manage multiple tasks efficiently. * Excellent communication and teamwork skills. * Certifications: EPA certification, OSHA training, or other relevant certifications are a plus. * Physical Requirements: Ability to lift up to 50 pounds, stand or walk for extended periods, and perform tasks that require climbing, bending, or reaching. Work Environment: This position operates within an educational setting, requiring the ability to adapt to a dynamic environment. Occasional evening or weekend work may be necessary to address emergencies or support school events.
