Job Title: Electric Groundsman I Department: Electric Location:City of Boerne, TexasSalary Range: $43,513.60 - $54,392 DOE annuallyJob Description: Works with groundsmen to assist line workers in electric construction with skilled support groundwork. Key Responsibilities: Assists electric construction line workers in replacing rotten poles and damaged cross arms.Assists in the installation of security lights and streetlights.Assists in installing new electric utility lines.Assists in making sure that work trucks are fully stocked with supplies and equipment.Assists with the maintenance of department facilities, grounds, department equipment, and vehicles.Assists in installation, maintenance, removal, and replacement of electric meters.Assists in trimming trees and brushes from power lines and easements.Chips, loads, and transports limbs and brush.Operates all departmental equipment utilized in the installation and maintenance of the electrical system, such as bucket truck, digger, derrick, pole truck, and other large trucks.Works with other departments on utility projects.Serves as essential emergency personnel when required.Regular and prompt attendance is an essential function of the position.Performs such other related duties as may be assigned.Qualifications:Education: High school graduate, or GED, or any equivalent combination of experience and training that provides the required knowledge, skills, and abilities.Customer Service Skills: Provide quality customer service to both external and internal customers.Knowledge of: medical and first aid procedures, electrical construction equipment; and miscellaneous tools. Ability to: understand and follow instructions; operate light equipment, hand tools, and electrical construction equipment and trucks. Maintain Texas driver's license applicable to job responsibilities and good driving record. Valid Class A driver's license. Communication Skills: Establish and maintain effective working relationships with co-workers and employees in other departments.Work Environment: Tasks involved include, but are not limited to bending, lifting, carrying, or using a force equal to lifting 90 pounds.
