Supervises employees using machinery or equipment to assist with manufacturing, packaging, and other steps along a production line. Click on the link to learn more about Evonik from our employees: RESPONSIBILITIES People * Help establish departmental goals and effectively communicates direction, objectives, and results as needed to the department, Weston plant site, and Evonik * Directly supervises 3-20 employees in manufacturing, including lab and maintenance on off-shifts and weekends * Ensure Performance Planning (PM) and development plans are in place for all reports. Hold reports accountable for successful completion of predefined goals and objectives. Provide mentoring and coaching support for reports throughout the year * Assign resources as needed both within shift and across shifts to ensure events such as overtime, vacation, and medical leaves are covered as necessary * Ensure employees are adequately trained to perform their duties * Openly communicate production priorities and progress to team on continuing basis * Communicates effectively with respect to verbal, written, and listening skills through all levels of the organization * Work with peers across areas to share learning, operations, issues, and resources * Drive and empower decision making to the lowest level in the organization * Build/create the safety culture in the department * Ability to motivate and communicate with production workers * Knowledge of union procedures * Analyzes and resolves work problems, or assists workers in solving work problems * Maintains time, inventory, and production records * Coordinates the PCA system of changes to equipment and procedures * Oversees proper compliance with ISO procedures * Interprets company policies to workers, enforces safety regulations, and provides safety training Business * Understand Silbond, Weston plant priorities to better manage the business of the site * Responsible for issue resolution and will serve as lead investigators, change owners, and procedure subject matter experts * Demonstrate ownership of procedures/work instructions * Manage all areas of an assigned process (quality, safety, environment, equipment, materials, product, etc.) to ensure the business meets timelines * Be an advocate and champion for change initiatives which can improve current procedures, method, processes, etc. Identify, lead, investigate, and implement changes as necessary. * Ensure production schedule is met which includes tickets, raw material availability, and ticket closure * Ensure ticket reviews are being conducted by shift * Responsible for tracking and completion of safety audits * Performs plant security function during off shift and weekends * Estimates, requisitions, and inspects materials * Reviews and writes operating procedures * Reviews and approves operating data log sheets REQUIREMENTS * High school diploma and a two year technical degree or three to five years related experience in chemical operations and/or training, or equivalent combination of education and experience * Proven ability to lead a group of people toward common objectives * Demonstrate excellent communication and conflict resolution skills * Must be computer literate and have experience in MS Word, Excel, SAP (preferred) * Ability to focus on continuous improvement and results deployment initiatives * Accurate and proficient analytical skills and strong problem-solving skills * Strong oral, written, and interpersonal communication skills. * Self-directed, self-managed, reliable, and capable of success with minimal supervision. * Ability to communicate and provide good customer service to internal and external organizations * Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals * Ability to apply mathematical concepts such as fractions, percentages, ratios, and proportions to practical situations * Ability to solve practical problems and deal with a variety of concrete variables in situations where only limited standardization exists * Ability to interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral, diagram, or schedule form * Experience with ISO 9000(preferred) The Evonik Group adopts an Equal Employment Opportunity (EEO) approach.
