noda is the reimagination of a traditional omakase built around the guest experience. Classically trained in edomae, Chef Shigeyuki Tsunoda has relocated from Ginza, Tokyo to bring his culinary philosophy to New York. He is supported by a team of sommeliers who oversee one of the most extensive Japanese whiskey collections and a world class wine, sake, and cocktail program tailored to chef's cuisine. Our Michelin-starred omakase concept in Flatiron is currently looking for a a FOH Support Team Member with ambitions to grow within the company. This position is an excellent opportunity for self-motivated restaurant professionals to understand high quality fine dining in an intimate setting at all levels of responsibility. The ideal candidate will have a background in NYC fine dining, preferably in a Michelin star setting. Experience in Japanese restaurants and knowledge of wine and sake is a huge plus but not a requirement. The candidate should expect to learn about Japanese cuisine and culture, wine, and sake in order to deliver pairing experiences and respond to guest inquiries. Cocktail expertise preferred. Job Details: Conduct opening and closing needs including mise preparation, station setup/breakdown, and cleaning. Assist with tracking inventory of glassware and beverage, including organization of beverage areas. Execute Michelin level counter service with professionalism and social warmth. Assist guests with by-the-glass and cocktail beverage recommendations and collaborate in pairings with the Service Director and Sommelier. Maintain a clean and sociable environment for the guests at all times. Skills, Abilities and Experience: 2 years of fine dining experience (Japanese restaurant preferred). Maintain a professional demeanor at all times. Understand the proper etiquette in serving food and providing service. Superior interpersonal skills, including positive interactions with guests and a desire to be part of a small FOH team. Must be able to stand for long periods of time Must be comfortable with repetitive motions (such as walking, bending and standing) Must be able to take constructive criticisms and work well in a team dynamic Can lift up to 30 lbs. This position entails extensive customer interaction so please feel comfortable speaking with guests throughout the meal beyond the context of service. We offer multiple pairing options to accompany our dinner service so ability to multitask and speak eloquently across a broad range of subjects and product types is essential. Excellent standards of service, detail work, organization, and timeliness are requirements for consideration. Compensation Details: Compensation: $10 Hourly plus tips commensurate with top of market pay
