This includes conducting routine maintenance, troubleshooting equipment issues, and implementing repairs to minimize downtime and maintain operational efficiency. Location: Lafayette, LA Responsibilities * This is considered a safety sensitive position, therefore will be subject to random drug testing as required. Key Responsibilities: Equipment Maintenance and Repair: * Perform preventative maintenance on packaging and production equipment, including conveyors, filling machines, labeling machines, and sealing systems. * Diagnose and troubleshoot mechanical, electrical, pneumatic, and hydraulic issues to determine root causes and implement solutions. * Conduct emergency repairs to reduce production downtime. Installation and Upgrades: * Assist with the installation and commissioning of new equipment and machinery. * Collaborate with the management team to make modifications and upgrades to existing equipment to improve efficiency and performance. Process Optimization: * Work closely with the production team to identify opportunities for process improvements and ensure equipment is optimized for maximum output and quality. * Support operational excellence (OE) initiatives by maintaining equipment at peak performance levels. Safety and Compliance: * Ensure all equipment complies with safety regulations and company standards. * Adhere to and promote a safe working environment by following all safety protocols and procedures. * Document and maintain accurate records of maintenance activities, inspections, and repairs. Inventory and Spare Parts Management: * Monitor and manage spare parts inventory to ensure critical components are available when needed. * Coordinate with vendors for purchasing parts and supplies as necessary. Qualifications Education and Experience: * High school diploma or equivalent required; technical degree or certification in industrial maintenance, mechanics, or a related field is preferred. * 3+ years of experience as a maintenance technician in a manufacturing environment, preferably in contract packaging or food/pharmaceutical production. Skills and Competencies: * Strong knowledge of mechanical, electrical, pneumatic, and hydraulic systems. * Ability to read and interpret technical manuals, schematics, and blueprints. * Proficient in the use of tools, equipment, and diagnostic devices for maintenance and repair. * Familiarity with CMMS (Computerized Maintenance Management System) software for tracking maintenance activities. * Excellent problem-solving skills and attention to detail. * Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a team environment. * Read, write, speak, and understand English Physical Requirements: * Ability to lift up to 50 lbs. and work in a physically demanding environment, including standing, climbing, and working in confined spaces. * Comfortable working in environments with varying temperatures, noise levels, and conditions. Preferred Qualifications: * Experience in contract packaging or similar industries (e.g., food, beverage, or pharmaceutical manufacturing). * Knowledge of Lean Manufacturing and Six Sigma principles. * Experience with PLC troubleshooting and programming.
