Job DetailsJob LocationState College Store - State College, PAPosition TypeFull-Time/Part-TimeSalary Range$16.50 - $16.50 HourlyJob ShiftAnyJob CategoryTransportationDescriptionTITLE: Box Truck Driver- Retail Program (State College location)PURPOSE:Drives truck to transport materials to and from ADC's, Stores, and Processing Plant within Goodwill's area of outreach or any other transportation need assigned.FUNCTION:Quality and material control. General housekeeping and safety. Snow removal and maintenance, including salting, during winter months.Operate fork lift to load and unload trucks and bales as needed to assure production quotas and deadlines are met. Performs other related activities as directed by the Vice President of Transportation, Warehouse Manager and Store Manager. Provide assurance for deadlines and quotas to be met.ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:Particularly sensitive to the desires of management as expressed by the CFO/President and C.E.O. of Goodwill Industries, and by written policies and procedures. Performs those duties, which are part of each driver's job.In addition, is responsible for the following:Transports materials from point of origin to the Processing Plant, transports inter-plant, to and from retail stores and other related transportation requirements. Emphasizes careful handling and protection measures to prevent damage. Stresses courtesy and good judgment in all public contacts. Maintains schedules on routes and makes sure that all materials collected are turned in at plant.Maintains records and prepares reports as necessary to use within the departments and in other departments as necessary.Operate fork lift as instructed in a safe manner as needed.Load and unload trucks, pallets and bales as needed.Complete Daily checklist for the fork lift truck, and baler.Responsible for Truck Helper in the loading and unloading process.Must follow all safety regulations.Must be able to stand for long periods of time, use hands to finger, handle, or feel; reach with hands and arms; push or pull. Must be able to occasionally sit, kneel, and climb. Must be able to regularly stoop, bend, squat, reach turn and twist body and lift up to 35 pounds and occasionally lift and/or move up to 70 pounds.Other related duties as directed by the Manager.CONTINUING EDUCATION REQUIREMENTS:A minimum of ten (10) hours of continuing education required yearly. Education should be related to the essential functions of maintaining skills and acquiring updated knowledge of changing techniques.RELATIONS:Establish and maintain relations with the following:The Vice President of Transportation, Warehouse Manager and Store Manager.Keeps Production Supervisor informed of significant events and trends concerning these jobs activities. Seeks his/her guidance and direction concerning decisions, which involve variations from current policies and procedures or schedules. Follows his/her instructions, both written and oral. Recommends and suggests changes in methods and procedures to improve transportation service.STANDARDS FOR MEASURING PERFORMANCE:The general reaction of the public to the appearance and conduct of drivers and Truck Helpers in the course of collecting materials.The appearance of the transportation equipment and the manner in which it is operated and maintained.His/her effectiveness in meeting the transportation requirements of the organization with the equipment and personnel available to him/her.The damage or lack of damage to materials resulting from transportation and handling.The safety and accident record of the transportation section.The manner in which he/she reflects the high standards of morals and integrity expected of all Goodwill associates.The manner in which he/she performs the normal duties of a Goodwill Truck Driver.CONTINUING EDUCATION REQUIREMENTS:A minimum of ten (10) hours of continuing education required yearly. Education should be related to the essential functions of maintaining skills and acquiring updated knowledge of changing techniques.SUPERVISON EXERCISED:Directs and instructs Truck Helpers and ADC Attendants engaged in pick-up and delivery of materials and in satisfying other normal transportation requirements of the organization.The above statements reflect the general duties considered necessary to describe the principle functions of the job as identified and shall not be considered as a detailed description of all the work requirements that may be inherent in the job.For Full Time Associate ONLY: Benefits after 90 days include: agency paid life insurance and vision insurance, vacation, sick, holidays, and eligible to participate in group health and dental programs with biweekly co-pay. EOEQualificationsQUALIFICATIONS:High school graduate or equivalent.Must be dependable and industrious with excellent character references. Knowledge of streets throughout the communities, and an understanding of traffic routing regulations as applied to trucks in each part of the area served are necessary. Must be familiar with maintenance methods and requirements. Must have a current, valid Pennsylvania driver's license and pass Motor Vehicle Record Check as conducted by agency insurance carrier.Must be able to pass Fork Lift Certification. Must be able to complete paperwork as required. Must have good work habits, such as acceptable attitude and punctuality. Must respond appropriately to supervision. Must possess adequate physical endurance to work at industrial standards and lift up to 35# unassisted and up to 70# with assistance.Must be able to complete daily paperwork as instructed.
