Position Information Classification Title Student Assistant FLSA Non-Exempt UGA Job Code FTE .50 Minimum Qualifications Position Summary This is a temporary position focused on developing blueberry cultivars adapted to the South Georgia growing environment and ornamental varieties for home gardening. Incumbent will work in both Tifton and Alapaha and will assist in transplanting blueberry bushes and seedlings to the nursery and farm. They will also participate in picking blueberries and data collection and will assist in farm and greenhouse management, such as pulling weeds and trimming bushes. Relevant/Preferred Education, Experience, Licensure, Certification in Position Experience in blueberry research is preferred. Knowledge, Skills, Abilities and/or Competencies * Positive attitude * Excellent work ethic * Willingness to learn Physical Demands * Lift 50 pound frequently and up to 100 pounds occasionally * Good vision and steadiness of hands for cross pollination * Work outside under high heat and humidity * Driving as needed to perform job duties.
