This position will report to the Value Stream Manager, will manage the production activities within their department, and will be responsible for overall performance of the manufacturing department including Production Schedule, Delivery performance, Resource planning, allocation and utilization, Quality and Safety Improvement.ResponsibilitiesImproving the Efficiency and Utilization of the Production DepartmentQuality of the products built and effective resolution of quality issuesIdentifying problem root cause and implementing corrective and preventive measures to ensure no repetitionUtilize functional support departments to resolve quality issuesIdentify and resolve Safety concernsBring multiple product lines together to meet the manufacturing plan for the week.Ensuring work instructions, procedures and policies are being followedMotivating department members through involvement, communication and positive reinforcementProvide employees with feedback through formal and informal Performance EvaluationsMonitor attendance and take disciplinary steps as required up to and including terminationDealing with grievance and conflict in a calm, controlled and professional mannerManpower planning and effective staffing, which includes operators and lead-hands.Ensuring effective training and cross trainingMentoring and developing lead-hands so they can manage the hour by hour manufacturing operationsDriving continuous improvement within departments to achieve better quality, efficient productivity and delivery performanceDriving force behind 5SUse Lean Manufacturing and other techniques Ensure daily shop clean up actions are performed effectively and required daily machine preventive maintenance actions are carried out as requiredQualificationsQualificationsTo perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily.
