(Pacific) The Los Angeles County Office of Education is seeking cybersecurity professionals to join our innovative and leading Technology Services team. The Information Systems Security Architect designs, implements, and monitors security measures for the protection of information technology systems, networks, servers, and other information by assuring computer systems and network devices are hardened against vulnerabilities and attacks, and ensures the security of highly sensitive data. The Well Qualified Candidate Will Possess the Following Knowledge: Information security software, programs, and tools Information security issues, requirements, standards, and trends, including compliance requirements related to Federal Rules of Civil Procedure (FRCP) and e-Discovery Information security laws and regulations Security and Data Loss Prevention (DLP) software, programs, and tools Risk assessment methods and techniques Incident response procedures and processes Malware such as worms, viruses, spyware, ransomware, and Trojans Basic server, network, and cloud technologies Cloud computing environments, system and network security, authentication and security protocols, and cryptography Application architecture and design, development environments, database design and normalization, network security and infrastructure Authentication, authorization, and encryption technologies Industry-standard tools and frameworks used in penetration testing, such as Metasploit, Burp Suite, Nmap, Kali Linux, and other tools Forensic techniques for investigating incidents Security auditing standards and techniques Competencies: Analyzing & Interpreting Data Critical Thinking Professional & Technical Expertise Action & Results Focus Adaptability Attention to Detail Handling Stress Professional Integrity & Ethics Informing Oral Communication Customer Focus Involving Others Leadership Teamwork Project Management Cultural Proficiency Required Education and Experience Education: An associate's degree in computer science, business administration, or other fields closely related to the job requirements of this classification, from an institution of higher learning accredited by a regional accrediting organization recognized by the Council of Higher Education Accreditation. Foreign degrees and credit units require translation and equivalency established by an agency recognized by the Commission on Teacher Credentialing. Experience: Three years of experience developing, implementing, and monitoring security solutions and programs. OR Two years of experience as an Information Systems Security Engineer or four years of experience as an Information Systems Security Specialist at the Los Angeles County Office of Education. Equivalency Provision: Current professional certification in one of the following may substitute for the associate's degree: Certified Information Systems Security Professional (CISSP), Certified Information Security Manager (CISM), Certified Information Systems Auditor (CISA), Computer Hacking Forensic Investigator (CHFI), Global Information Assurance Certification (GIAC), or equivalent. Additional Requirements: A valid California driver's license and the availability of private transportation or the ability to provide transportation between job sites is required. Candidates who pass all exam parts are ranked according to overall exam score and placed on an eligibility (hiring) list. Vacant positions are filled from the top three ranks. Eligibility lasts for 12 months; however, additional recruitment may occur under a separate bulletin with additional candidates being merged onto the eligibility list.
