Valiant Residential is seeking a highly skilled HR Director to join our company. As the HR Director, you will play a vital role in leading the human resource function and fostering a positive and inclusive work environment for our diverse team in a multi-state environment. The successful candidate will have a natural ability to establish and maintain strong working relationships with team members and partners at all levels and in all locations. This position is based in Dallas, TX. Position Summary The HR Director is a key leadership role responsible for overseeing all aspects of the Human Resources function within the organization. The Human Resource Director will plan, lead, direct, develop, and coordinate the policies, activities, and staff of the Human Resource (HR) department, ensuring legal compliance and implementation of the organization's mission and talent strategy. Essential Duties and Responsibilities Collaborate with department heads to understand their needs and develop HR strategies supporting their business goals. Maintain an environment of equal employment opportunity, diversity, open communication, trust, mutual respect, and fun culture. Provide guidance and support on various HR matters to team members, Community Managers, Regional Supervisors, and executives across the organization on complex issues, including talent acquisition, performance management, employee relations, and compensation. Plan and manage the recruitment, interviewing, hiring, onboarding, and orientation processes to maintain staffing levels with qualified individuals while complying with federal, state, and local laws and regulations. Handle discipline and termination of team members in accordance with company policy and procedures. Oversee adherence to performance management, including monitoring performance evaluations to ensure they are completed and submitted on a timely basis. Facilitate the development and monitoring of team members' performance improvement plans. In conjunction with the VP of operations and the training and development director, identify ways to increase staff retention and productivity, including strategies to enhance team members' engagement, staff development, regular feedback and coaching, career pathing, and promoting a coherent organizational culture that positions Valiant Residential as an "employer of choice." Handle employee relations issues professionally and efficiently. Mitigate legal risk to the organization through proactive training and education, clear systems and processes for managing conflicts with and between team members, and handling and investigating complaints of harassment/discrimination and other unfair practice allegations. Ensure team members follow accident and safety policies. Align safety standards with corporate SOPs and set appropriate property-specific standards. Ensure proper maintenance of team members' records, files, and human resources systems. Manage the compilation and analyze various corporate reports and property reports to provide management with accurate information and comply with corporate policies and procedures as well as government laws and regulations. Monitor and ensure the organization's compliance with federal, state, and local employment laws and regulations and recommend best practices; review and modify policies and practices to maintain compliance. Maintain knowledge of trends, best practices, regulatory changes, and new technologies in human resources, talent management, and employment law; apply this knowledge to communicate policy, practice, and resources changes to upper management. Design and implement a competitive compensation package to attract and retain staff. Manage benefit broker resources and benefits enrollment process. Develop and implement departmental budget. Lead and develop an HR & office Professional team (7 people), providing strategic direction and focus; with ability to motivate and support current staff. Perform other duties as assigned. Minimum Qualifications (Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities) Bachelor's degree in human resources or related field (Master's degree preferred). Proven experience as an HR Director or similar leadership role with a track record of success. 10+ years of human resource management experience required (multifamily Industry experience preferred). The ability to act with integrity, professionalism, and confidentiality. High-performance organizational experience and a demonstrated track record of supporting companies that operated with a high-impact culture outperformed the competition and developed a reputation for strong, diverse talent. Familiarity with HRIS systems, preferably Paylocity. A doer who can operate at a fast pace with a bias toward action. Engaged leader, mentor, and team player with strong interpersonal and relationship-building skills at all levels who can inspire and manage people to grow professionally. Working knowledge of employment laws and other compliance issues. Capable of resolving escalated issues requiring cross-functional cooperation. Passionate about data and data integrity, process definition, and continuous learning. Working knowledge of Microsoft Office. Bilingual in English & Spanish is strongly preferred. SHRM-SCP or SPHR certifications are a plus.
