Court Appointed Special Advocates of San Mateo County (CASA) is a non-profit organization that strives to ensure that all abused and neglected children have a consistent and caring adult who speaks on their behalf and helps them reach their full potential. CASA recruits, trains, and provides ongoing support to community volunteers serving as officers of the court, who work with the most vulnerable children in San Mateo County. CASA works with judges, attorneys, social workers, teachers, and others, to advocate for children in the foster care and juvenile justice systems and to create positive change in their lives. CASA's office is in Redwood City, CA. Position Overview The Recruitment and Engagement Coordinator is responsible for coordinating volunteer recruitment and engagement. The Recruitment and Engagement Coordinator is an outward-facing and communications-focused team member who will develop an active and on-going recruitment plan for new volunteers, create a volunteer appreciation and recognition program, and manage efforts to increase volunteer engagement through communication tools and events. The person in this role acts as a representative for the organization in public settings and is often the first person to interact with prospective volunteers and community organizations. The position will require some evening and weekend work, as needed. The ideal candidate is preferably bilingual and biliterate in Spanish and English, has exceptional communication and interpersonal skills, is organized and flexible, has sound judgment, collaborates well with team members, and can think on their feet. Reports to : Senior Program Manager-Initiative, Training and Recruitment Status: Full-time, non-exempt; 40 hours per week with occasional evening and weekend work required Location: Redwood Shores, CA- Hybrid work schedule with two days in the office and occasional travel to off-sitelocations for presentations and events. Duties and Responsibilities Recruitment: Develop and implement a comprehensive volunteer recruitment plan to recruit a diverse pool of volunteers to serve as Court Appointed Special Advocates based on waitlist needs and current volunteer pool. Identify and establish relationships and promote volunteer opportunities with local community organizations, corporations, associations, collaborations, and networks that act as natural volunteer recruitment sources. Coordinate organizational efforts to recruit a diverse pool of volunteers to (1) provide culturally and linguistically sensitive services to the youth CASA supports and to (2) ensure that the organization has a volunteer pool with individuals with diverse backgrounds. Collect, evaluate and present data to track recruitment goals and needs Analyze outcomes to identify attrition trends and develop strategies to increase retention through the application and assignment process. Schedule and coordinate orientations, this includes ensuring information is updated, current, and correct on website and other public documentation and delivery of information. Supervise the pipeline of volunteer inquiries by updating database, communicating with Training Coordinator, and working with staff to evaluate training candidates. Process volunteer applications which include: Entering and verifying information is accurate and complete for each prospective trainee on agency database, tracking prospective trainee information, and Identifying and reporting on any issues regarding candidates to Program Team. Create and manage materials to be used for recruitment purposes, such as PowerPoints, flyers, and banners. Maintaining an inventory of supplies and collateral for volunteer recruitment by checking stock and determine inventory level, anticipating needs, placing orders and verifying receipt. Create social media posts for recruitment purposes and work with staff to provide translation for posts when needed Engagement: Develop and implement new strategies to increase volunteer engagement in partnership with staff. This includes volunteer appreciation, recognition, and networking opportunities. Create an annual volunteer engagement plan. Coordinate at least two annual volunteer events (including the annual holiday event and another mid-year event) Present to external audiences to recruit volunteers, raise awareness, engage corporate and community partners, and raise the profile of CASA of San Mateo County. Produce monthly volunteer newsletter. Research and spearhead the development of any new volunteer communication strategies to increase interactions between volunteers as needed. Manage content and monitor volunteer communication on communication platform/portal. Manage content on CASA website that informs public of how to become a CASA volunteer Build and support a volunteer program engaging current and former CASA volunteers in non-advocate roles, working with staff to design, promote, and support a range of volunteer opportunities within the agency, including maintaining volunteer service descriptions for the non-CASA volunteer roles and provide support to staff to identify needs for non-advocacy support roles. Create social media posts for volunteer engagement purposes, as needed. Additional: Work closely with the Development and Communications team to inform strategic outreach and marketing efforts through monthly meetings. Assist Training Coordinator with hosting ZOOM controls on continuing education meetings, as needed. Special events and projects, as required. Qualifications BA/BS degree in communications, marketing, social services, or equivalent training and experience Bilingual and Biliterate (English/Spanish) preferred Demonstrated excellent written and oral communication skills, effective public speaker Demonstrated excellent interpersonal skills Ability to analyze information and metrics and use these to improve systems and strategies Flexibility with hours, including some evenings and weekends Other Skills/Abilities Competence in Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Outlook programs and comfort learning and utilizing new software programs Strong task management and project management skills Ability to maintain confidentiality and exercise discretion in communication with others Demonstrated respect of all people regardless of socioeconomic background, culture, religion, sexual orientation, disability, gender identity, or gender expression and experience working with culturally diverse populations Knowledge of community resources and population of San Mateo County Previous experience working with volunteers Must have a CA driver's license and possess a vehicle Compensation and Benefits Starting salary range: $31.25/hr- $32.70/hr (annualized $65,000-$68,000) 160 hours of PTO and 14 paid holidays to start Medical, dental and vision benefits Retirement plan with employer match for up to 6% of salary To Apply Applicants should apply directly through our application with the Apply button below.
