ABOUT STAX Stax is a global strategy consulting firm providing actionable, data-driven answers to clients' critical strategic questions. Relationships spanning more than two decades with public and private corporations, private equity firms, their portfolio operations groups and portfolio companies. Stax's global presence includes offices in Boston, Chicago, New York, London, and Colombo, Sri Lanka. To support our accelerated growth, Stax is seeking an in-house Legal Counsel to assist with all legal aspects of the business. This individual will report directly to the General Counsel. The ideal candidate has a JD from an ABA-accredited law school, proven experience working in a legal setting, and is open to working in our NYC, Boston, or Chicago offices. WHAT YOU WILL ENJOY DOING Responsibilities Drafting and negotiating various agreements with clients, partners, and vendors. Managing vendor onboarding and due diligence exercises with clients. Maintaining and further enhancing the firm's contract management system. Handling ad-hoc projects across a spectrum of complex business, legal, and strategic initiatives in collaboration with other functions (e.g., finance, people, marketing). Drafting policies on a variety of issues and helping to further develop a compliance program. Keeping current on applicable law and regulations. WHAT YOU BRING TO THE TABLE Qualifications 4+ years' legal experience, preferably with in-house legal experience. Exceptional judgment and integrity and able to handle multiple complex matters independently on tight timeframes. High attention to detail and an ability to view legal issues within the context of business objectives, effectively coordinating strong relationships with cross-functional business partners. Proven experience working in a fast-paced environment. Enthusiasm to do all levels of work in a cooperative small team "all hands on deck" environment. J.D. from an ABA accredited law school and active membership in at least one U.S. state bar (Massachusetts, Illinois or New York preferred).
