General Purpose: Responsible for providing information, advice, and answering detailed coverage questions for members, and other external and internal parties. Duties may include: interpreting coverage to respond to customer questions or inquiries regarding coverage; reviewing and approving applications; reviewing, interpreting and revising contract language; coordinating renewal placement of optional coverage programs; placement of miscellaneous policies; preparing and processing correspondence, reports, billings and procedural files; reviewing, processing and binding coverage; providing information to other departments, brokers, or insurance companies; invoicing premium credits and debits; training and mentoring Underwriting Department staff; and providing on-site assistance to existing and prospective members. Provides detailed insurance coverage information, advice, and support to CIRSA members regarding insurance coverage. The Senior Underwriter position is distinguished from the Underwriter position by a greater experience level, a greater ability to work independently, and a higher degree of responsibility. Essential Duties and Responsibilities: Interprets coverage information to provide information and respond to customer questions or inquiries regarding coverages and contracts, ensuring accuracy and timeliness. Consults with customers regarding coverage issues and needs. Prepares and processes correspondence, certificates of insurance, reports, billings and procedural files. Provides coverage information to other departments, brokers, or insurance companies. Reviews, processes and binds coverage as required by application process, ensuring eligibility requirements and effective dates and coverage limits are maintained. Reviews, coordinates, and processes annual application renewal, including comparing rate differences, coverage discrepancies, amendment requests, and other related changes. Performs various duties to support the department, including updating and entering member information, invoicing premium credits and debits, and providing on-site assistance to existing and prospective members. Performs other duties of a similar nature or level. Position Specific Responsibilities May Include: Making on-site visits to clients to address problems. Training Underwriting Representatives. Serving as a lead by monitoring and assigning work. Developing procedures within guidelines set by the Underwriting Manager. Answering complex coverage/underwriting questions that involve decision making in gray areas in accordance with policy or demonstrating other skills and abilities which allow the representative to provide an elevated level of service to members. Performing other functions as assigned by the Underwriting Manager, or which are necessitated by the absence of the Underwriting Manager. #J-18808-Ljbffr
