City of New York Senior Engineer, BOT DCAS's mission is to make city government work for all New Yorkers. From managing New York City's most iconic courthouses and municipal buildings to purchasing over $1 billion annually in goods and services for more than 80 City agencies, what we do ensures that all agencies can deliver on their mission. DCAS's Division of Energy Management (DEM) leads the City's efforts to reduce carbon emissions from government operations. Our goals are to reduce greenhouse gas (GHG) emissions 40 percent by 2025 (40x25), 50 percent by 2030 (50x30), and 80 percent by 2050 (80x50). Additionally, DEM is tasked with completing work related to the City's other energy-related commitments, such as pledging to install 100 MW of solar photovoltaics on City buildings by 2025. The Senior Engineer will work within the DEM's Building Optimization Team (BOT), under the guidance of the Senior Program Manager. In the first 18 months, it is expected that the Senior Engineer will manage building optimization projects successfully and independently. In the first 4 years, it is expected that the Senior Engineer will help stand up a robust program for the City to upgrade and maintain the City's HVAC infrastructure and develop advanced analytics to support improved building optimization. The Senior Engineer, BOT will be charged with responsibilities including, but not limited to, the following: Project management: Lead the management of a portfolio of highly technical projects and opportunities at the City's facilities, including budgeting, scoping, project implementation oversight, site inspections, and project close out. Technical oversight: Provide technical expertise on relevant projects, including reviewing and approving designs, scope and project costs, inspections, and relevant energy savings calculators. Performance management: Monitor, report, and maintain project-level tracking of key performance metrics including recommended and implemented energy conservation measures (ECMs) and operations and maintenance measures (OMMs). Agency engagement: Facilitate routine correspondence with City agencies to drive project management and build professional connections. Program further expansion: Support senior leadership in expanding an innovative City-wide building optimization program. Qualifications: A baccalaureate degree from an accredited college or university in a relevant field; or Completion of an apprentice program in a construction trade with an emphasis on energy efficiency and two (2) years of satisfactory experience in energy generation or conservation work; or Four (4) years of satisfactory experience in energy generation or conservation work; or Education and/or experience equivalent to the above. Special Note: To be eligible for placement in Assignment Level II or III, candidates must meet specific educational and experience requirements as outlined in the original description. License Requirement: A Motor Vehicle Driver License valid in the State of New York may be required for certain assignments.
