Our client is looking for a Manager for the Commodities Data Management team. This individual will run a team of commodities data experts and data onboarding engineers. This team will be responsible for delivering vendor data to BAM's growing commodities business. Key responsibilities include: Overseeing a team of data analysts and data onboarding engineers, who are focused on delivering a broad array of data to investment teams in the commodities space. Working hand-in-hand with portfolio managers and the COO of the commodities business to ensure optimal prioritization and timely delivery of data onboarding initiatives. Delivering vendor data to the business, while ensuring data quality, reliability, accuracy and clarity. Partnering with the commodities investment teams to advise, suggest, recommend and help curate the data they are ingesting. Building out a sophisticated commodities data analytics offering to help the firm analyze new data, understand its contents, find outliers and improve data quality. Evaluating new and differentiated data within the firm and helping strategically prioritize new data initiatives. Defining the onboarding and production requirements for new data. Operating hundreds of data feeds, ensuring reliable, scalable, timely delivery of existing datasets to investment professionals. Helping the team analyze vendor data, understand its structure and characteristics. Diving deep into the data your team is delivering to ensure the team understands the information the data conveys and why it might be useful to investment professionals. Serving as an in-house expert on data, leveraging your knowledge of commodities data. Leading the charge for data efforts across the commodities business, with a focus on empowering the team to understand the data being delivered. Building a robust, repeatable, highly automated process for onboarding commodities data. Driving the data onboarding prioritization process, working with multiple business stakeholders, and accurately reporting on progress. Instilling a strong service culture within the team to provide white glove service to investment professionals. Building a relentless culture of data quality and operational reliability. QUALIFICATIONS & REQUIREMENTS: 5+ years of product management experience developing data products with experience across data infrastructure and/or analytics. Strong understanding of time-series data, third party data vendors, and how they apply to quant and fundamental analysis. Experience with commodities data, such as weather, power, oil, natural gas, etc. Demonstrated track record of ownership, leadership, high achievement and raising the standard of those around you. Understanding of logical and physical data modeling, data architecture, data taxonomy, and both structured and unstructured data. Ability to understand the technical implementation trade-offs to ensure that requirements are not misunderstood or being ignored by a given implementation plan. Strong SQL skills as well as experience with big data and/or complex data sets. Hands-on programming experience with simple Python (e.g., Jupyter, Pandas, NumPy, SciKit). Ability to be an active participant in architecture and design reviews. Familiarity with Emerging Data Technologies such as Cloud, Big Data and AI/ML trends that enable data-centric solutions for business problems. Experience in defining data and ML products and applications to solve business problems. Experience working in an agile environment and with development teams.
