DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES Maintenance Activities * Performs basic maintenance and repair activities under the direct or indirect guidance of a Facilities & Operations lead worker or Supervisor * Assists in the performance of more advanced maintenance and repair activities under the direct guidance of a Facilities & Operations lead worker or Supervisor. May include, but shall not be limited to, the following trade activities: grounds maintenance, roof maintenance and repair, plumbing repair, door and lock repair and adjustments, window repair, automotive service, furniture assembly and repairs, light carpentry, painting, etc. * Grounds and building maintenance, majority of work will be on grounds College Facilities Support * Performs various facilitated related activities related to the daily operations of the College. May include, but shall not be limited to the following activities: furniture and equipment moves, office set-ups, event set-ups, cleaning and organization of work areas, recycling activities, etc. Facilities Department Responsibilities * Promotes a positive, supportive, high energy, team-oriented work environment * Maintains knowledge and actively pursues development opportunities related to work place safety and safe work practices * Demonstrates an ability to work both independently, and in a small team environment, toward the completion of tasks to a described outcome and quality level Institutional Expectations * Embraces diversity and actively collaborates effectively with a variety of students, staff and the public from diverse cultural, social, economic and educational backgrounds * Participates in recruitment and retention of students at an individual and institutional level in promotion of student success * Embraces, understands and uses appropriate technology tools to accomplish job functions * Provides high quality, effective service to internal and external customers through continuous improvement and adoption of lean office practices CANDIDATE QUALIFICATIONS Your application will be scored based on the minimum qualifications, core competencies, and preferred qualifications listed below. Minimum Qualifications: Two years of demonstrated work experience in general facilities maintenance or a technician in the trades Core Competencies: * Interpersonal skills sufficient to exchange or convey information * Ability to read, write, comprehend, and follow instructions in English * Experience in proper handling of chemicals * Functional knowledge of basic office software computer applications. * Proficiency in navigating the internet and utilizing various web-based applications * Knowledge of the tools of the trades * Knowledge of safe work practices * Bicultural/multicultural skills sufficient to select appropriate behaviors, values and attitudes within different cultures during interactions with others Preferred Qualifications: * Post-secondary training which includes course work in basic math and written and verbal communications, or technical training in a trade * Experience operating a vehicle with a 17 foot box trailer, especially reversing and/or backing up with the trailer * Bilingual English/Spanish ADDITIONAL INFORMATION SCHEDULE & MODALITY This position is not eligible for remote/hybrid work. TERMS OF EMPLOYMENT * This is a 100%, 12-month classified assignment of the B1 band and grade * Please note:The college is currently undertaking a comprehensive classification and compensation study. No employee will lose base pay because of this study, however, classification titles and pay grades may change. The successful candidate will receive notice of all changes prior to implementation which is currently projected for the Winter of 2024. * This position has a 6-month probationary period * All positions at Chemeketa are required to be available for work onsite as requested by the college. * Requires flexible work schedule to meet program needs, which may include evenings and/or weekends * This position may require the use of your personal vehicle for transportation between campus locations * If requested, requires the provision of official transcripts upon hire * Employees must maintain Oregon, Washington or Idaho residency as a condition of employment. * Successful applicants for designated positions must successfully pass a background inquiry, which may include criminal, driving, credit and full background checks.
