About Caterpillar Defense Caterpillar Defense represents all industry segments within Caterpillar. Caterpillar Defense sells across a broad product line that includes machines, off-road vehicle engines, marine engines, power generation, switchgear, and aftermarket support to include parts and rebuilds of legacy military machines. The Account Manager to be located in Irving, Texas will oversee and coordinate all sales and various solution programs for direct Electric Power (EP) opportunities funded by the United States government. What You Will Do: * Grow direct U.S. Governmental Electric Power sales through General Services Administration (GSA), Federal Contracts Corp (FCC), Defense Logistics Agency (DLA), and other key partnerships with defense contractors. * Monitor Government System for Award Management (SAM) and Bloomberg Government service to identify current opportunities, awards, and prospect future sales opportunities. * Collaborate with extended Caterpillar Defense team to cascade new information, awards, market intelligence and discovered opportunities. * Satisfy Caterpillar Defense internal and external contractual and regulatory compliance requirements. * Consult with Caterpillar dealers through dealer facing Account Managers to provide support in terms of training, logistics, and commissioning, when applicable, to grow direct U.S. Governmental Electric Power business. * Develop internal partner relationships and external relationships with major customers to achieve sales objectives. Travel to and meet with customers to establish high-level relationships with business decision makers to identify business opportunities. * Influence the development of new requirement specifications for Caterpillar products with key U.S. Federal Agencies and U.S. Government customers. * Develop and implement market strategies backed by senior management to grow the Caterpillar Defense power systems business. * Ensure account decision makers have been fully exposed to the features/benefits available from Caterpillar products, dealers, and marketing before they finalize purchasing decisions. What You Will Have: Customer Focus (Extensive Experience required) : Knowledge of the values and practices that align customer needs and satisfaction as primary considerations in all business decisions and ability to leverage that information in creating customized customer solutions. * Facilitates creation of the 'right' products and services to resolve customer business issues. * Anticipates customer needs, focusing efforts to proactively meet needs and exceed customer expectations. Effective Communications (Working Knowledge required): Understanding of effective communication concepts, tools and techniques; ability to effectively transmit, receive, and accurately interpret ideas, information, and needs through the application of appropriate communication behaviors: * Listens to feedback without defensiveness and uses it for own communication effectiveness. * Makes oral presentations and writes reports needed for own work. Relationship Management (Extensive Experience required): Knowledge of relationship management techniques; ability to establish and maintain healthy working relationships with clients, vendors, and peers. * Participates in negotiating the terms of the business relationship. * Maintains productive, long-term relationships with clients or vendors. Account Management (Working Knowledge required): Knowledge of account management; ability to manage day-to-day activities, providing services and support to existing clients. * Coordinates with internal support functions to meet unique client needs. * Provides account management support to a specific customer or account. Value Selling (Extensive Experience required): Knowledge of the principles and practices for selling products, technology and services; ability to provide overall product/service 'value' and to differentiate support offerings that address clearly understood customer needs. * Delivers value-added services to customers beyond delivery of a purchased product, technology or service consistently. * Qualifies sales prospects based on a clear understanding of customer business needs. This position may require a government security clearance; you must be a U.S. Citizen for consideration. Travel: Up to 50% Top Candidates Will Also Have: * Effective communication is essential for this position to clearly articulate commercial proposals internally and externally. Communication may include contracts, agreements, and quotations, for both internal and external audiences. Must communicate effectively across product, industry, dealer, and/or customer audiences to gain understanding, acceptance of ideas, and provide recommendations. * Must have the ability to work with people from many different backgrounds and cultures, internally and externally, with the appropriate influence and ability to resolve differences. * Impact of decisions made by this position may be far-reaching, to include the project team or immediate work group, division, and/or product group, suppliers, internal customers, and external customers. Decisions may significantly impact costs, sales, and customer perceptions. * Knowledge of Caterpillar Electric Power product line and/or knowledge of U.S. Government Contract Processes. Please note that salary is only one component of total compensation at Caterpillar.
