JOB DESCRIPTION AND POSITION REQUIREMENTS Scheduled Weekly Hours: 40 Hours: 6:00 am - 2:30 pm Summary of the Job: Coordinates and performs effectively in directing all grounds activities and projects assigned by Grounds Supervisor, and / or in the absence of the Supervisor. Trains new staff completely, maintains work schedules and equipment maintenance schedules. Assist Supervisor with payroll and time sheets. Orders supplies and materials needed to keep the department well equipped to run efficiently. The Grounds Division services the hospital grounds along with multiple offsite locations. Minimum Qualifications: Must be able to read, write and follow written and oral direction. Computer skills are necessary to complete requisitions for supplies and materials. Have good customer service skills. Must be familiar with accepted practices in field and grounds keeping such as irrigation, mowing, weed-eating, edging lawns, fertilizing plants and lawns, planting and transplanting shrubs and flowers, pruning trees and shrubs, and eliminating weeds, insects and other pests, and maintaining equipment. Experience in grounds keeping a must. Must obtain a LNLA Certification and or the Louisiana Horticultural Landscape Contractor License within 1 year of hiring. Must have a valid and current state issued driver's license. Must maintain and provide proof of automobile insurance (at his/her own expense) in amounts which meet at least the minimum liability coverage limits required by the state of their residence. Clearance of driving record check; Driving records shall not contain any of the following: a suspended or revoked driver's license, 3 or more moving violations in the past 36 months, 2 or more accidents in the past 36 months, 1 or more instances of driving under the influence (DUI) or driving while intoxicated (DWI) within the past 24 months, at fault in a fatal accident within the past 5 years, leaving the scene of an accident within the past 36 months, and/or reckless driving within the past 12 months Physical Demands: Must possess good physical health. Some requirements include but are not limited to standing, sitting or walking for long periods of time. Lifting up to 99 pounds is required. Must be able to work with a moderate level of noise. Physical Effort required: Constant (67%-100%) - lifting, stooping, handling/feeling, talking, hearing, seeing Frequently (34%-66%) - carrying, pushing/pulling, crouching, crawling, reaching Occasionally (1%-33%) - climbing (stairs, ladders, etc.), balancing EMPLOYMENT Each St. Tammany Health System staff member is expected to conduct himself or herself according to our mission, vision and values.
