Primary Purpose of the Job: The Whitby Bar is seeking a dedicated and skilled Line Cook to join our team. The ideal candidate will be responsible for prepping their station and executing dishes during service periods. Success in this role requires a strong ability to take direction, work collaboratively within a team, and maintain a high level of professionalism. The Whitby team is a close-knit group of passionate individuals committed to preparing exceptional food. We are looking for someone who shares this passion and excels in a dynamic, fast-paced kitchen environment. Key Responsibilities: Prepare food for service, including chopping vegetables, butchering meat, and preparing sauces Maintain consistency and quality of food items in adherence to chef and kitchen team standards Ensure all dishes are plated to standard and delivered promptly Follow the executive or sous chef's instructions accurately and efficiently Season, cook, and prepare dishes to the highest standard, ensuring optimal flavor and presentation Adhere to nutrition, sanitation, and safety regulations, maintaining strict hygiene standards at all times Foster a positive and professional working environment, respecting teammates and supporting one another in daily tasks Uphold the Whitby Bar's high standards of food safety, cleanliness, and organization Requirements: Proven experience as a line cook, with a strong background in cooking, garde manger, or prep cook roles In-depth knowledge of various cooking methods, ingredients, equipment, and procedures Excellent organizational skills, with the ability to manage multiple tasks efficiently A keen eye for detail and a commitment to producing high-quality dishes consistently Ability to lift 50 lbs. and carry heavy items as needed EMPLOYEE BENEFITS: Paid vacation, sick and personal days Health, dental, vision, and life insurance plans Commuter benefits Holiday staff parties and staff appreciation events In-house uniform dry cleaning services Employee meals while on duty Departmental and company-wide incentive programs
