Job Summary * Waters greens, tees, and fairways. * Operates irrigation system and making necessary adjustments in the field. * Repairs the irrigation system, pipes, and irrigation heads as needed. * Completes requests for irrigation and course parts and supplies. * Grades and prepares soil base. Lays sod and seeds greens, tees, and fairways. * Responsible for adjustments of irrigation system needed around parking lot, pool, and clubhouse areas. * Support country club facility as needed. * Special projects assigned by management. Education/Experience Requirements * High-school graduate or GED required; vocational school preferred. Possession of a Valid Drivers license. * Entry level, 1-2 years' experience in the maintenance industry preferred. Working knowledge of basic electricity and hydraulics related to an irrigation system, including automatic valves and controllers, and working knowledge of various types of pumps and pumping systems. * Able to interact successfully with a variety of people in person with attention to comprehending information. Excellent oral communication skills as well as understanding written communication in work-related documents. Time management and independent thinking skills are a must. Ability to follow oral and written directions. * Must be confident of skills and have the ability to make sound, independent decisions when appropriate; have the willingness to adjust to and conform to varying schedules; have excellent communication skills; and be able to get along well with others. * Experience with Rainbird irrigation system preferred. Physical Requirements * Must be able to stand for extended periods while working on the grounds, and have good communication skills (i.e., communicate clearly and effectively in both written and spoken English). Must be able to lift and move materials weighing up to 110 pounds - maintaining grounds requires bending, climbing, stooping, carrying and/or lifting materials. Performing movements that require considerable movement of arms, legs, and moving the entire body as well as running, maneuvering, and navigating vehicles and mechanized equipment. Environmental Requirements * Must be able to work outdoors exposed to all weather conditions. May come in contact with various insecticides, fumes, fertilizers, exhaust, and other pollutants. Must be able to see and work with other employees and work in open areas.
