Job Details Level: Experienced Job Location: Irvine/CA - McKinley Elevator Corp - Irvine, CA Position Type: Full Time Education Level: High School Salary Range: $36.00 - $43.50 Hourly Travel Percentage: Up to 25% Job Shift: Any Job Category: Skilled Labor - Trades Description * Have Command with the Vertical Transportation Industry * Assist lead technician in the maintaining, trouble shooting and repair of various types of accessibility equipment * Have Command with blueprints to determine the layout of system components * Have Command to connect electrical wiring to control panels and motors * Have Command with testing installed equipment to ensure that it meets specifications * Have Command with the Vertical Transportation Industry * Have Command with the organizations relevant to the Vertical Transportation Industry * Have Command with National Applicable Codes and Regulations * Have Command with Accessibility Industry terms * Have Command with types of accessibility and residential equipment * Have Command with Elevator Industry Field Employees Safety Handbook * Have Command with basic electricity and electrical symbols and meanings * Have Command with electrical schematics * Have Command with troubleshooting conveyance systems; including brakes, motors, switches, hydraulics and control systems * Have Command with tools and equipment required to maintain, troubleshoot and repair various types of accessibility equipment safely * Have Command with site conditions and what is required to safely maintain, troubleshoot and repair various types of accessibility equipment * Have Command with all components of the conveyances to properly identify each piece and its use to properly maintain and repair the conveyance * Have Command with all product service manuals * Have Command with EMT bending * Have Command with Soft Skills Training (critical thinking, teamwork, effective communication and resiliency) * Have Command with and read the service manual cover to cover prior to commencing any service * Optional enroll in the CAT Program (Certified Accessibility Technician) and progress through/complete Courses 5 and 6 * Study to take the CAT final exam * Ability to properly/correctly perform tasks with less supervision industry time guidelines * Have Command with iPhone and apps, iPad and processing work orders in ServiceMax (SMAX) including creating Dash-1 work orders * Vertical Platform Lifts (VPL) - Have Command in "door handing" * VPL - Have Command in Landing Door and Gate-Locking Devices * VPL - Have Command in Machinery Tower/Masts * VPL - Have Command in Platforms and Ramps * VPL - Have Command in Safeties and Governors * VPL - Have Command in Hoistway/Runway Enclosures whether provided or partially provided * VPL - Have Command in Wiring, Power Supplies, Control Circuits and Safe Operation * VPL - Have Command in Hydraulics; including 1:2 Rope Drive System, Pumps and Motors, Check Valve, Pressure Gauges, Static Pressure, Manual Lowering, Overpressure Relief Valve, and Shutoff Valve * Incline Platform Lift (IPL) - Have Command in the product and the General Overview * IPL - Have Command In Power Supplies and Wiring * IPL - Have Command in Power Transfer/Landing Calls * IPL - Have Command in Battery - Operated Models * IPL - Have Command with Barrier Arms * IPL - Have Command with Controls and Operation * IPL - Have Command with Platforms, Safeties and Governors * Private Residence Elevator (PRE) - Have Command in Hydraulics; including 1:2 Rope Drive System, Pumps and Motors, Check Valve, Pressure Gauges, Static Pressure, Manual Lowering, Overpressure Relief Valve, and Shutoff Valve * PRE - Have Command In Power-Supply and Wiring (Hoistway wiring, in-car lighting, telephone requirements, traveling cables, and travel cables) * PRE - Have Command in Battery - Emergency Lowering * PRE - Have Command in Drive Systems (winding drum, hydraulic, pneumatic, and chain) * PRE - Have Command in rail brackets and rail alignment * PRE - Have Command in reading and comprehending layout drawings * PRE - Have Command with the Car and Sling (assembling the sling, installing safeties, installing the platform, cab alignment and clearances) * PRE - Have Command with Entrances (landing doors, side slide doors), Car Doors, Interlocks and Gate Locks and Contacts * PRE - Have Command with steps to take Prior to leaving the jobsite. (Safety Check, Operation Check and Service Checklist Completion, properly document customer safety items) * Communicate well with Customers, Lead technician and dispatcher * Maintain hand tools necessary for this trade * Ability to follow direction as well as work independently * Demonstrate competence and proficiency in the field * Contribute to team effort by performing additional duties as requested * Demonstrate/show proof of competency of Jr. Mechanic 2 Skillsets Qualifications Qualifications: * CAT and/or CCCM Limited License * Ability to properly lead and train apprentices * Ability to perform service work in industry budgeted time guidelines * Excellent verbal and written communication skills * Solid writing and grammar skills * Highly organized * Ability to work harmoniously with the public and co-workers * Ability to successfully prioritize and meet customer needs * Punctual and reliable * Computer skills and proficiency including Microsoft office and other cloud based products * Knowledgeable in basic hand tool and power tool functions * Solid mechanical skills * Strong attention to details and accuracy * Trustworthy and maintains confidentiality * Excellent problem-solver * High School Degree or Equivalent plus 2 years industry experience * Maintain a valid California Driver's License and clean driving record * Physical Requirements: * Prolonged sitting and standing * Frequent customer interaction, must be able to speak and hear well enough to communicate with others * Must be able to see well enough to drive, read electronic screens and electrical schematics and service/operation manuals * Ability to hear, smell and touch * Grasping/Feeling: must be able to write, type, and use hand and power tools * Ability to think and process information quickly, clearly and accurately * Strong reasoning ability; able to apply common sense, understanding to carry out detailed, but uninvolved, written or oral instructions; able to deal logically with problems & people * Physically fit for lifting and moving equipment (up to 50 pounds) * Ability to stand and work on ladder * Ability to be led, ability to follow instructions, make suggestions and are willing to learn * Ability to push, pull and perform overhead work * Ability to work with various hand and power tools * Finger Dexterity - use of finger/fine manipulation.
