Overview The Maintenance Technician I installs, maintains, and repairs production and manufacturing equipment. Inspects equipment for proper functioning and performs preventative maintenance duties per manufacturer's specifications. Qualifications Education/Experience: * High school diploma or GED equivalent required. * One year certificate from college or technical school; or one year related experience and/or training in manufacturing equipment maintenance and repair; or equivalent combination of continued education and experience. Other Functions: * Ability to read, write, perform basic mathematical calculations, and accurately record data required. * Must be willing to work overtime, weekends, holidays, and varying shifts, as required. * Must be able to frequently stand, walk, kneel, reach, climb, pull, and bend with full range of body motion. * Must be able to frequently lift and/or move 10 pounds and occasionally lift and/or move more than 100 pounds. * Must be able to work independently and/or on a team in a fast-paced environment. * Strong analytical skills and systematic approach to troubleshooting and problem solving is required. * Preferred but not required: * Experience with basic electrical systems (e.g., starters, fuses, contacts, relays). * Experience with conveyors (air cylinders, diverters, sensors, motor/speed controls). * Experience with electrical systems (installation, frequency drive, troubleshooting) * Experience with electronics (e.g., level probes, flow meters, drives/VFDs, etc.). * Experience with gearing and gear boxes (rebuilds, ordering parts, machining parts). * Experience with hydraulic systems (high pressure cylinders, pumps, valves, troubleshooting). * Experience with kinematics (e.g., line speed/sprocket size ratios, etc.). * Review rating instructions. * Experience with packaging/high speed production (e.g., bottling, consumer products, etc.). * Experience with pneumatics (solenoids, cylinders, motor brakes, reading, troubleshooting). * Experience with pneumatics/air compression (e.g., valves, cylinders, etc.). * Experience with preventative maintenance (computerized preventative charts/data). * Experience with pumps (e.g., troubleshooting, replacing seals/motors, understanding specs). Certificates, Licenses, Registrations: * PLC, HVAC, Ammonia, Refrigeration, or other specialty certifications preferred but not required. Working Conditions: * Must be able to work in hot and cold climates, both indoors and outdoors. Language Skills: * English is the primary language skill; however, bilingual skills may be beneficial based on business necessity. Responsibilities * Perform BASIC preventative maintenance inspection and service on all production and manufacturing equipment in accordance with manufacturer specifications and company guidelines. * Perform BASIC troubleshooting, diagnosis, repair, and maintain equipment to the desired company performance standards. * Interface, troubleshoot, diagnose, and repair electronic computerized systems and equipment * Utilizing continuous improvement mindset, assist in identifying opportunities to improve processes. * Comply with all company work and safety rules and regulatory compliance rules and regulations. * Use all personal protective equipment in compliance with OSHA regulations. * Possess the necessary personal tools to perform duties.
