Job Description - Supervisor SUMMARY The Shift Supervisor is responsible for directing all shift personnel assigned to his/her shift. This includes providing direction to work teams, maintaining a safe work environment, and ensuring personnel have successfully completed all required training. The Supervisor is responsible for achieving or exceeding the expected performance levels in the areas of safety, quality, delivery, and productivity. The position has direct responsibility for all activities linked with materials handling, production planning and control, manufacturing, packaging, inventory control, and shipping. This manager will also oversee equipment and plant maintenance. The Supervisor must be a dynamic leader and foster a culture that is aligned with the Company's Core Values. This position is also part of the plant's senior management team and will have an active role in establishing strategic direction, participating in the annual budget process (including capital investment needs), and defining operational goals. ESSENTIAL DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES General Description Supervise Packaging, Assembly, DC, and Component manufacturing team members who assemble, package, label, set up, and operate custom automated equipment, which is designed to assemble and package stainless/carbon steel worm gear clamps in high volumes.Ensure that production schedules are met daily while maintaining safety, environmental, quality, and cost objectives. Lead and direct employee functions such as selection, hiring, and development of employees, conducting performance reviews and creating development plans.Manage training of personnel, including sponsor certifications and hands-on training. Serve as a mentor.Ensure compliance with the Quality System and Environmental Management System.Direct the work teams and supervise the shift's production efforts to meet the published schedules.Participate and assist in decisions concerning hiring, promotion, discipline, and discharge. Maintain consistently safe work environment and personally demonstrates his/her commitment to safety and compliance.Hold employees accountable for required safety, environmental, quality, and quantity standards and maintaining inspection ready workplace at all times.Ensure team members receive sufficient training to accomplish their roles in a safe and productive manner.Interpret MRP reports to plan, organize and schedule daily high-volume production requirements for clamp manufacturing and packaging requirements for the Smyrna facility.Troubleshoot and resolve production issues in a timely manner.Ensure efficient coordination and processing of high volume work orders and develop a collaborative and effective working relationship with all support functions.Lead and/or participate in continuous improvement activities such as: implementing and sustaining lean manufacturing tools, and automated inspection requirements, etc.Consistently lead continuous improvement teams/activities: to improve operating efficiencies, reduce costs, identify unfavorable trends concerning downtime, safety and quality issues.Make timely corrections or plans activities with support functions to correct and improve upon such issues.Ensure compliance to the Quality Management System and Environmental Management System.Understand the process for containing nonconforming product and completing a RID.Satisfactorily complete this job position's Training Instruction Checklist.When necessary may perform other typical duties.SKILLS & EXPERIENCE Skills and Attributes Aligned with Company's Core ValuesDevoted to CustomersPositive EnergyCaresPassionate for GrowthFinds a wayProven management skills with the ability to optimize team performance.Strong interpersonal and communication skillsAnalytical, problem solving and organizational skills.Comfortable with ambiguity and competing priorities.Confident, self-starter, change agent.Qualifications and Experience A relevant business or engineering degree is preferred.Minimum of 2-5 years of experience in manufacturing environment Understanding of ERP systems, including bill of materials, work order management, inventory controlStrong computer skillsProven track record of improving overall efficiencies, reducing cost, and leading teams to effect positive change within the organization.Knowledge of lean techniques may be advantageous.Microsoft Office experience (Outlook-Word-Excel).The list of skills and experience above represent the level of education, experience, skills, and knowledge expected of an ideal candidate and are associated with successfully performing the duties and responsibilities contained in this job description.
