Salary Exempt Summary: This job is a hands-on Supervisory position in which an individual is expected to aid the Department and Plant Manager as well as acting as a technical troubleshooter. Job Title: Department 71/80/82 Supervisor Reports to: Plant Manager Responsibilities: * Oversee and maintain safety practices in accordance with safe operations and in compliance with company policies. * Conduct safety and orientation training with new team members. * Ensure that production goals are met in accordance with applicable quality standards * Plan and execute the production schedule, providing supervision and direction to Team Leaders. * Allocate resources to ensure minimum downtime and completion of scheduled activities. * Prioritize and manage workload to ensure assignments address the objectives of the company, department, and customers. * Supervise and assist in the training of production processes. * Act to solve problems and reduce obstacles that interfere with Safety, Quality and Delivery goals. * Work to continuously improve personal and team member performance to increase Throughput while keeping Inventory and Operating Expenses under control. * Provide training, guidance, and coaching to team members in a consistent and constructive manner. * Communicate shift activity to team members and keep them informed of the changes to equipment, processes, and materials / supplies. * Monitor the efficiency and quality of all production jobs. * Manage team member conduct or performance problems fairly and uniformly across all team members in a manner consistent with company policies. * Refer to Human Resources for advice and consultation as needed. * Maintain payroll system for department team members. Qualifications and Skills: * Must be able to communicate to both management and team members clearly and informatively. * Experience working in a union environment preferred. * Excellent written and verbal communication skills. * Proficiency with computer operations and programs such as Microsoft Office (Outlook, Word, Excel), ability to read and understand blueprints, Access or other data tracking systems. * Strong decision-making and troubleshooting skills and methods are essential. * Ability to work independently and creatively. * Manufacturing experience of 5 years or more or equivalent. * Minimum of 3 years supervisory experience. * High School Diploma or equivalent. * Continuous Improvement training and experience (LSS Green Belt or equivalent preferred).
