Vaupell Midwest (Constantine, MI) is plastic injection molding location focusing on manufacturing medical parts and devices and other sectors. Position Summary:As a Manufacturing Supervisor, you will oversee the daily operations of our 2nd shift team, ensuring that all manufacturing processes run smoothly and efficiently. In this role you will also, schedule and produce parts of superior quality managing materials, equipment, scrap and efficiency.Education:Associate degree from an accredited institution or equivalent work experience.Experience:Minimum of 2 years' supervisory experience (required)Minimum of 4 years' experience working in Manufacturing (required)Qualifications & Skills:Demonstrated team leadership skills with the ability to effectively manage, motivate and inspire a diverse team.Established experience monitoring, measuring and reducing scrap rates.Prior strong focus on continuous improvement and familiarity with Kaizen and Kanban.Proficiency with MS Office Suite including creation of charts and graphs.Experience in quality control within a manufacturing environment is highly desirable.Competence in solving practical problems and deal with a variety of concrete variables in situations where only limited standardization exists.Skill in creating routine reports and correspondence.Ability to read, analyze, and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedural manuals.Attention to detail.Basic math aptitude and the ability to add, subtract, multiply and divide in various units of measure using whole numbers, fractions and decimals and the ability to compute rate, ratio, and percent.Able to lifts objects up to 50 pounds by hand with or without an accommodation.Effectively present information in one-on-one and small group situations to other employees within and outside of the organization with differing communication styles.Able to multi-task and prioritize priorities simultaneously.Position Duties:Monitoring and optimizing injection molding processes to ensure high-quality production and minimal downtime.Driving continuous improvement initiatives by identifying areas for process optimization and implementing effective solutions.Collaborating with Quality, Engineers, Techs etc. to resolve any production issues and ensuring all parts meeting our stringent quality standardsInvestigating and taking appropriate action when any deviation is reported, a part is out of spec, when scrap increases, when efficiency rates drop and production issues arise.Monitor utilization making sure presses are running and investigating when they aren't.Researching and taking corrective action when deviations, part issues, scrap increases have not been reported.Ensure last shot and appropriate information is turned in when molds are pulled.Assure proper line clearance has taken place.Verify process for all new set-ups and ensure that all set-ups meet the prescribed standards.Monitoring, reporting and controlling all scrap rates.Preparing and reviewing for accuracy, all required production and shift reports. Ensuring all team members follow job instructions (JI's) and are trained on job expectations.Providing strong team leadership by conducting daily meetings, assigning tasks and ensuring all team members are properly trained and engaged. Lead investigations of all safety incidents during shift. Addressing complaints, resolving problems, and conducting disciplinary discussions.Maintaining employee records and requests and completing all required employee actions per policy and handbook. Continual coaching, employee recognition and development.Ensure all team members remain productively working and addressing any issues promptly.Support, follow and uphold departmental and company policies and procedures and ensure training and compliance with all team members.Responsible for accuracy of all reported labor, production, scrap, and material.Responsible for the quality of all products produced on the shift.Make sure the proper equipment is available.Maintain employee records (absentee sheets, overtime lists, etc.)Complete all required reports in a timely manner.Communicate with QC and supervisor with the outgoing, current, and incoming shifts.Follow all safety rules, procedures, and preventative measures and making sure all team members are following.Follow all Six "S" requirements.Sort: removing unnecessary items in a location, reducing distraction, increase safety,Set In Order: make the workflow smooth and easy,Shine: clearing and cleaning workspace regularly to improve production efficiency, safety, reduce waste and prevent defects,Standardize: follow set process and procedures, andSustain: do without being told.Safety: identifying hazards and setting preventative controls.All other duties and responsibilities as assigned.BenefitsMedicalHSA account with a company contributionDentalVision401K11 Paid Holidays including 1 Floating HolidayPaid Sick Time
