OverviewThe Crew 2 Head Coach will perform a key function in our club's strategy for player development. This position is the technical leader within the second team space. In addition, this role will interact with numerous club stakeholders in order to accelerate the growth of top prospects with the goal of developing 1st team players to play in MLS. This individual should be motivated by developing individual players, through our academy pathway and should support playing within our One Club game model.Responsibilities:1) On Field Coaching:• Coach the Team in all Friendly, regular season, playoff, tournament, international and other games.• Arrange, conduct and supervise the Team's training sessions, and matches.• Attend all Team training sessions.• Engage in individual and group instruction.• Work with coaching staff and analysis staff to execute the IDP (Individual Development Plan) process for all players, in line with the clubs IDP process.2) Coaches Meeting• Prepare for all games played by the Team, including developing game strategies.• Prepare and lead all daily coaches meetings.• Coordinate preparation of the team training sessions.• Review previous team game and training sessions.• Follow the club's reporting guidelines.3) Scouting / Recruiting:• Assist in supervision and coordination of the recruiting / scouting process.• Consult and advise key stakeholders as requested with respect to the Team's roster and player trades.• Acquire information of key players.4) Game Administration:• Lead preparation of pre-game meetings.• Gather information from players and give input related to travel, pre-game meals, and lodging.5) Supervision:• Direct and work with the Team's coaching staff and such other staff as may be determined by the Club.• Enforce day-to-day integrity of the program, including compliance with all applicable League and Club Rules as such rules apply to Team's players and/or coaching staff.6) Academy:• Collaborate with all Academy staff and teams, and create opportunities for Academy coaches in regard to trainings and game days.• Serve as a leader and member on the Academy Management Team and attend monthly meetings to collaborate on multi-disciplinary items related to player development.7) Pre-Season• Coordinate with staff for the organization of pre-season.• Participate in pre-season meeting schedule.• Coordinate training schedule.8) Community:• Interact with local soccer community.• Making public appearances and participating in promotional and sponsorship activities on behalf of the Team (and its sponsors) as are reasonable in light of Employee's position as Head Coach without additional compensation.• Involve players with community outreach activities.9) Video Analysis:• Work with Academy Video and Data Analyst Manager to execute the following:• Use video to analyze training and matches.• Review individual game and training video edits.• Prepare opposition scouting and analysis as necessary.10) "One Club:"• Be an active participant in Columbus Crew "One Club" activities and programming.11) Other Duties:• Performing such other duties reasonably consistent with Employee's employment as Head Coach that may from time to time be reasonably determined by the Academy Director.Requirements• A' License coach with EFCL certificate preferable.• Work experience in a professional soccer / academy for 5 years plus• Interest in player, coaching, and adult learning development theory and approaches.• Strong tactical knowledge with applied coaching methods.• Proficiency in Excel, PowerPoint, and video analysis systems.• Ability to concisely communicate feedback and progress summaries.• Demonstrated ability to build and develop professional relationships.• Ability to work across multiple departments.• A high level of accuracy, attention to detail and confidentiality.• Proven ability to listen, understand and communicate effectively.• A positive, winning attitude, incorporating integrity and discretion.• Strong communication and interpersonal skills with a high level of emotional intelligence.• Must be able to comply with League child/minor safety/well-being policies.
