Starting hourly rate: $22.69 Employment with the Canton City School District comes with a full array of benefits. To be eligible for the position under this examination, all applicants must be U.S. citizens or possess a valid permanent resident card. All applicants must be high school graduates or possess a G.E.D., and have no felony convictions. You will be notified by email when we have the location, date, and time of this examination.Reports to: SUPERVISOR OF TRANSPORTATION Required: * High school diploma or equivalent * Civil service eligibility * Valid School Bus Operator's License or obtain one within a year * Previous experience in the repair of diesel and gasoline engines * Previous experience in the repair of standard and automatic transmissions * Previous experience in tune-up and minor body repairs * Previous experience in fixing and/or installation of brakes * Physical ability to handle materials weighing up to 100 lbs. * Physical ability to work in and under transportation vehicles * Ability to work without supervision * Cooperate and get along with others * Honesty * Work as a member of a team Responsibilities: The responsibilities of a Transportation Mechanic include, but are not limited to, the following: * Diagnose and repair district automotive equipment * Maintains a current inventory of supplies and equipment * Promotes high standards of safety and good housekeeping methods in all work-connected areas * Establishes an efficient and effective system of routine automotive maintenance and preventive care * Works with highway patrol for inspection of school buses * Keep accurate maintenance records * Provides information for repairs * Provides information regarding the sale and trade in values of vehicles * Performs other duties as directed SUBSEQUENT TO THE FILING OF THE APPLICATION, THE CANDIDATES WILL BE NOTIFIED OF THE FORMAT, LOCATION, DATE, AND TIME OF THE EXAMINATION. RATING Your name will be placed on a list of eligible candidates upon receiving a passing score. Once the list has been established, your name will remain on the list for a period of one (1) year.
