As a personal care assistant, you will work directly with students to best meet their unique needs, helping each child to experience success. Transportation Assistant The Ephrata Area School District is recruiting for a Transportation Assistant. The Transportation Assistant will assist van drivers to manage student behavior on the van, give individual students supports, and ensure safe student conduct on van runs between home and school and school and home. It may be necessary for the transportation aide to utilize ride-sharing services (i.e. Uber) to return back to Ephrata. Time and fees incurred when using ride-share will be covered by the District. Responsibilities: * Work with the van driver as a team to transport students to and from school safely. * Assist the students with following the student code of conduct for school transportation safety. * Assists the van driver and parents and school personnel with loading/unloading the student on the school grounds. * Partner with driver to promote safety rules and provide firm direction to the students. * Reports violation of van safety protocols, on vehicle conduct form, to transportation coordinator. * Support appropriate student behavior on the van in accordance with recommendations of the school team. * Ensure that all students are secured and when appropriate, assist in securing students with seatbelts, harnesses, seatbelt locks, and specific seats. * Position self on the van in a location which allows observation and assistance to all students. * Performs other related duties as assigned by Supervisor/Coordinator. Qualifications: Education: High School Diploma or equivalent (maintained in file). Experience: Minimum of two year's general experience in the workplace; or working within customer service. Aide - Transportation Aide Experience working with students or adults with disabilities preferred. Language Skills: Ability to read, produce, and comprehend simple instructions, short correspondences, and memos. Ability to collect data and utilize basic technology to perform job duties. Mathematical Skills: Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals. Reasoning Skills: Ability to apply common sense understanding to conduct written or oral instructions. Ability to communicate professionally and efficiently to solve problems related to assigned student. Ability to use sound judgment and make decisions in the absence of supervisor and work independently. Other Skills & Abilities: Must have valid Driver's License Ability to interact courteously and tactfully with all District. personnel, students, and the public. Ability to develop effective working relationships with students, staff, and the school community. Ability to communicate clearly and concisely, both orally and in writing. Ability to perform duties with awareness of all district requirements and the Board of Education policies. Other Requirements: Applicants must also possess the following criminal clearances obtained within the last 12 months: Act 34 - PA Criminal Record; Act 114 - FBI Background Check; Act 151 - PA Child Abuse Clearance.
