Job Responsibilities With our Agency's mission to support the recovery of people with mental illnesses, we provide a complete array of medical and support services for children, adults, and families throughout South Carolina. This position is located at the Department of Mental Health Crafts-Farrow, 7901 Farrow Rd, Columbia, SC 29203. As the Driver/Equipment Operator III, working under limited supervision of the Shipping/Receiving Manager and/or Operations Manager, you will be responsible for independently receiving, transporting, and shipping food in compliance with department, local, state, and federal guidelines. Responsibilities for the Driver/Equipment Operator III include but are not limited to: * Transports and delivers carts, meal trays and orders to and from assigned facilities per schedule. Loads meal trays as needed into retherm units in dining rooms. Ensures dirty trays and clean trays are not transported together. * Verifies counts, accuracy and acceptable conditions of delivery items. Obtains appropriate signatures as needed, of delivery items. * Operates refrigerated vehicles over DMH campus, assigned facilities, and public roads following prescribed operating and safety procedures. Performs vehicle maintenance checks of assigned department vehicle before leaving in the morning. * Adheres to all rules, such as but not limited to, clean trucks as needed, clean/sanitize trucks between deliveries, plug in trucks between deliveries, reports any mechanical problems to manager between deliveries for daily duties. Must retain valid driver's license. * Maintains records for inventories, quality control, quality assurance, sanitation checklist, temperature charts, and all other records necessary for the operation of the shipping/receiving/transportation area. Maintains HACCP 9Hazard Analysis Critical Control Point) standards compliance in all work areas. Accurately maintains Monthly trip Logs and fuel receipts. * Trains new driving staff on heavy equipment. * Demonstrates good customer service with clients and Nutritional Services staff, as well as all other DMH staff by providing required services in a pleasant, helpful and positive manner. * Adheres to patients' privacy and "Bill of Rights" standard requirements while performing duties. Minimum and Additional Requirements Experience in the operation or maintenance of heavy equipment, motorized vehicles or vessels, or machinery that is directly related to the area of employment. Preferred Qualifications Bilingual abilities in English and Spanish (or another language) are a plus. Additional Comments The selected candidate must demonstrate good customer service. Possess a valid driver's license. Ability to perform manual work requiring good physical condition. Physical ability to manually lift up to fifty (50) lbs and push over 100 lbs. Ability to walk or stand for extended periods of time. Ability to bend, stoop, reach, pull, push, climb stairs or stand for extended periods of time. May encounter temperatures ranging from -10° F to 400° F around equipment. This is an essential position during an emergency.
