Videos Help Duties As a Supervisory Executive Producer (Persian), you will be responsible for duties to include, but are not limited to: Directing Conceptualizes and designs complex television programs with innovative and creative approach, in various formats, such as live and pre-recorded, documentaries, specials on breaking news stories, and remote television programs. Coordinates travel and story themes with correspondents/stringers. Assures coverage needed is provided in a professional and timely fashion. Exercises sound editorial judgment in producing polished, air-worth products. Critiques the news product and delivery of same from correspondent/stringers. Coordinates daily programming with other VOA TV news gathering units to facilitate news coverage for Persian TV programs. Works with Persian News Network's Director, Executive Editor, Managing Editors and Executive Producers to conceive, develop, and implement major program projects and new approaches to reporting and news programming. Plans and formulates short-term and long-term TV programs with Executive Producers and Managing Editors and/or subordinate supervisors to assure TV program formats and individual segments exemplify the highest professional broadcast standards, are designed to attract the maximum interest of viewers in an internationally competitive broadcast environment and conform to the provisions of the OVA Charter and journalist code. Prepares reports on Persian TV activities, as needed, including Persian TV profiles, annual Program Review notes and coverage reports. Supervisory Duties Exercises supervisory responsibility for seven hours of live Persian television programming. Provides creative direction, exercising responsibility for the production values and aesthetic qualities of all TV programs, including the artistic and creative aspects. Manages a network of freelance producers. Recruits freelance producers. Establishes and supervises records for the payment of freelancers. Critiques completed work. As necessary, travel to recruit and to provide supervision. Provides administrative oversight. Ensures that funds provided for the staff and coverage in the area of responsibility are used prudently and that records to that end are in order as detailed in government regulations. As Senior Executive Producer, the incumbent has full responsibility for the supervision of all Persian TV producers. Recruits and selects production staff. Plans and assigns work. Establishes and clearly communicates deadlines and performance standards for staff. Provides both informal and formal feedback on staff performance on a regular basis. Qualifications Screen out factor: Applicant must have native fluency in the Perian language; and fluency in the English language that enables you to speak, read, write, report, and translate in both languages. Qualifications: Applicants must have one (1) year of specialized experience equivalent to the GS-13 grade level that is in or directly related to this line of work which includes production, program development, operations, personnel management and production program budgets. Specialized Experience is experience that has equipped the applicant with the knowledge, skills and abilities to successfully perform the duties of the position. For this position, the following specialized experience is required: * Experience with management principles and practices. * Experience with commercial television broadcasting techniques, including the ability to produce programming for tailored audiences. * Experience developing, motivating and leading a staff of subordinate supervisors in a cross-cultural environment. * Experience applying EEO principles and the ability to communicate effectively and collaborate with other managers. * Experience covering a variety of topics concerning Persia, their lifestyles, culture, national history, customs, government institutions and policies; an awareness of political, economic, and social developments in the region including current U.S. and foreign policies including U.S. relations with and foreign policy toward Iran.
