Pay range: $52,266 - $84,148 Pay Grade: 17 Job Code: 51170 FLSA Status: Nonexempt Essential Functions: The following duties are normal for this position. The omission of specific statements of the duties does not exclude them from the classification if the work is similar, related, or a logical assignment for this classification. Other duties may be required and assigned. Reviews tree preservation; and plans for new projects. Investigates proposed development sites for tree preservation. Attends pre-application and pre-construction meeting with contractors, developers, water and sewer representatives and other concerned parties. Performs job site inspections for tree protection fencing, landscaping, and related concerns. Reviews residential permits for compliance with the County's tree ordinance. Inspects development sites for final approval of certificate of occupancy for compliance with the County's tree ordinance. Reviews and approves permits for removal, replacement and/or on-site relocation of trees. Answers questions from developers, engineers, and the general public on various aspects of the County's tree ordinance. Processes customer inquiries and complaints. Assists with training and education of staff, developers, design professionals and the public on the County's Tree Protection Ordinance. Represents the Department and testifies in court cases. Inspects and confirms certification on tree conditions conducted by private Arborists. Reviews and makes recommendations on variance applications to the Zoning Board of Appeals. Maintains up to date knowledge of all applicable codes and ordinances. Minimum Qualifications: Bachelor's degree in Landscape Architecture, Forestry, Horticulture or related field; two years of experience in forestry, horticulture, civil engineering, or a related field; or any equivalent combination of education, training, and experience which provides the requisite knowledge, skills, and abilities for this job. Specific License or Certification Required: Must possess and maintain a valid Georgia driver's license; and must possess and maintain a valid International Society of Arboriculture Certification.
