Perform routine maintenance requirements on a fleet of tugs and barges as directed by the Port Engineer. Perform inspections of vessels for repair & maintenance standards and procedures. Work with other company engineers, welders, vessel crew, and mechanics as needed. Assist in maintaining the project management schedule of the equipment. Maintain the facility and vessels in a professional and safe manor while adhering to the policies and procedures in the company Safety Management System. Attend and lead safety talks and Job safety analysis. Ability to repair marine equipment on site under adverse conditions at all hours.Ability to interact with others using courtesy, tact, good judgment, and professionalismMaintain the confidentiality of all sensitive communications.Ability to understand and execute complex oral and written instructions.Ability to work independently with minimal or no guidance.Ability to get along with office staff and vessel crewmembers.Must be able to read, speak, write, type, and understand English in person and over the telephone.Oversee and follow up with all E-Maintenance for company vessels and any needs for coastal fleet in SF bay.Keep LMS yard/shops compliant with county and state environmental regulationsFacility maintenanceExperience in maintaining tugs and barges preferred.Caterpillar engine experience preferred.Marine engine and gear experience preferred.Experience as a Mechanic using hand and power tools.Experience in vessel electrical systemsExperience driving a forklift.Required to work aboard boats and barges using winches and mechanical tools for repairs.HAZWOPER (including Incident Command System) training within 90 days of being hired.First Aid and CPR training.Must be physically fit enough to board barges and tugs at sea and in port in all weather conditions.Mustbe able to perform the functions set forth in job analysisand physically fit enough to climb onto barges and up and down ladders, and bending and twistingExposure to all weather conditions (rain, ice, snow, heat, wind, heavy seas, etc.)Normal office hours are 7:00 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. Monday through Friday.Ability to adapt to a variety of schedules and hoursAble to work weekends, holidays, and at night.
